Zagg HD (case friendly)

Bought the Zagg HD (case friendly) at the beginning of February and love it, not a single problem with it. It keeps the look of the retina display and protects the screen. It is case friendly, which means it does not extend all the way out to the edges of the phone, but pretty close. Helps keep it in place and no bubbling around the edges when putting on cases. This particular model does not have the orange peel effect that the regular zaggs have either, very clean look. It does smudge a little, but usually a wipe on the shirt takes care of that.

I bought this from a zagg stand in a mall near me (zagg.com search shows locations near you) and it cost 19.99 + 5.00 install fee, but product is covered with lifetime warranty. 30 days no charge w/receipt if something goes wrong with it. After that you pay a 5.40 install fee to have replaced for life. I had to utilize this today because I had my 4s replaced @ apple store. Went to stand and they gave me a piece of paper to fill out and have the protector put on when phone is swapped out, just brought it back and they put on a new one for me. The gentleman also informed me that you get the same initial 30 day window each time you have it replaced. So good customer service also.

sorry if I was a bit wordy, I just really liked the product.

I believe the issue is that when applying these shields one is over compensating to be ultra careful. A dust free atmosphere room would be advantageous !

I've found the Zagg to be excellent as the bubbles go after a few days.

The phone devil ones are ok too

After using both expensive and cheaper options I came to the conclusion they are not for me. I dislike the feel of them and the orange peel effect mentioned in an earlier reply.

You are making it hard more difficult than it really is. Just buy cheap protectors on eBay. Install them after a shower (the moisture minimizes the dust), use a card to smooth it out and voila!

get the moshi one.
Piece of plastic...cant make bubbles and can be removed to clean
best one out there..

Never heard of that one, but Moshi makes decent products. I'll check it out, thanks. Maybe my fail screen protector skills won't be too hopeless.

I've actually found they are so much easier to put on a black iohone than white. On the white you get sort of shadows, where as on the black you dont.

Wow - glad you all like these things. I did one when I got my first "3". After a few weeks I ripped it off. Never used once since. With two phones of over 3 years use, we still love them naked.

Her phone often in her purse - bouncing around. Mine in holster most of the time.

Am I missing something?

Am I the only one hopeless at putting on screen protectors on iPhones?

No!

:D

I always seem to end up with loads of dust underneath. Ie. Bubbles. I managed to do a back protector film ok (Still a few bubbles but don't really care on the back).[/quote]

I don't get loads of dust bubbles, just a few (but that's still really annoying).

No matter how I try it, it never works.

From what I gather, doing it in your shower room is a good method, as the moisture in the warm air takes care of the dust particles.

I've got a couple of protectors arriving this week, so I'll let you know how I get on! (I always use protectors from www.mediadevil.com if that helps?)

Also what are the screen protectors actually made of? The screen protectors seem to scratch quite easily themselves (You can see them under light) but they do a great job of stopping the phone getting scratched.

No idea, sorry!

I remember reading the Zagg are from the same film the military use on attack helicopter blades !

In the Uk a retail shop called Carphone Warehouse charges a small fee to fit them while you wait. As these are quite expensive thus us the route I'd take.

i've had my power support on for about 8 months. You really cant screw any protector up. If its not straight put tape across the whole thing and lift it back up. Then when you do get it on straight, use tape to remove dust from underneath it. DONT GIVE UP

I think quality matters. The ones on eBay for a dollar are just not going to last. I've tried different ones and I have found that I like the Sonix anti glare. It doesn't distort like some anti glare protectors do and it has a nice texture to it.

For putting them on, I generally clean the screen a few times and wipe it with a swiffer dust wipe to attract any dust. The protectors I like have two peel off films. One in the back for the sticky side and one on the front of the protector.

I usually peel the back off, exposing the sticky side. Then I line in up using the home button hole and earpiece hole as a guide. Then I kind of drop the protector on. I find this better than trying to start in a corner.

The advantage to having a peel away film on the front of the protector is that you can then get in there with a credit card to push out any bubbles without worrying about scratching the protector itself. Once you are done smoothing, pull the front protective film off and you are done.

I've had the same Sonix protector on since October. No peeling, no bubbles. So far so good.

That's just my experience, YMMV.

If you are happy with your current setup, of course you aren't missing something. If you are anal about micro scratches on your screen (this doesn't seem the case for you) then I would say a screen protector, and perhaps a case, is essential.

Where do you guys normally get screen protectors from? I don't really want to get an expensive one if I'm just going to screw it up.
These are by far the best screen protectors on the market, in my opinion. The static-cling technology doesn't attract dust around the edges like other screen protectors that use adhesive. Furthermore, when you're applying the screen protector, the static repels any dust that may have landed on the screen. The best way to install a screen protector is to do it fast and accurately.

Personally, I hate using screen protectors or really anything else that takes away from the design of the device.

That being said, the three most important things to keep in mind when putting on screen protectors is to A) make sure the screen is 100% clean and B) not to take the screen protector off of it's pad until you know you are ready to put it on, and C) don't rush it, if you don't line it up you might have to peel it off and back on again which will attract dust.

Power Support Anti Glare Screen Protectors have been the easiest to apply and have lasted the longest for me. The ones I installed on my iPad and iPhone have been in place for over a year. They are kind of pricey, but well worth it in my opinion.

Can't stand them. Had a Zagg on my iPhone 4 and it SUCKED I forgot how bad it was until I got my 4S and decided to keep it bare. I do use a nice thin frame case but the hell with the screen protector.

I know this is an old thread, but thank you to those commenters for posting the shower/tape methods. I just knocked it out on the first try with Power Support crystal protector (I expected to struggle). Much obliged.

I don't care for the Invisible Shield or the Ghost Armor. The Power Support Crystal does work really well and doesn't distort the display. The trick to the PS screen protectors is to use scotch tape if you get a bubble or piece of dust underneath. After it's installed perfectly straight, just lift one end of the film at a time with Scotch tape and use another piece of Scotch tape to remove any dust particles from the underside of the film.

lint roller & some alcohol during application, along with some nonlinting latex gloves make applying screen protectors easier.

Install Help

I actually found some good videos on installation from bodyguardz's youtube channel.. I was hopeless and didnt know what to do, plus they have some gel solution which helps you so you can slide your screen around until its in the right place. Good quality stuff right there.
