That looks quite a cool mod, where'd you get it from?
That's the symbol for 'hail stones' I guess. Look at the widgets package contents and you can see all the different imagery used :)

Must be odd having December as a summer month...

Along with the block heater, what you should really get is an interior car warmer and hook it up as well - that way, when you plug you car in, it keeps your block warm and heats the inside of your car! It takes a toll on the power bill, mind you, but if you're not paying for the power (i.e. at an apartment or at work) it's great! :D

Folks around here have remote car starters and leave their heaters on. They can just push a button 10min before they leave the office, and walk into a warm car.

Sometimes it still freaks me out when I walk in front of an empty car and it starts by itself. (not all autonomous vehicles will be as nice as Herbie the Love Bug, mark my words)

Oh yeah, we have those too of course - but if you don't have the remote start installed, the interior warmer is a nice alternative. :)

Hide away inside as much as possible. Arizona summers aren't much better; my next move is northeast where it's cold and rains all the time. :D
Erm, how far northeast? It's not cold here (by my standards) outside of Late Nov. - early April. It also doesn't rain a heck of a lot here. And the North Rim of the Grand Canyon averages more snow per season than Rhode Island.

Anyways, it's currently 19F here, which means it's time to wear a coat outside. I was wearing shorts the day before Thanksgiving :D (Yes, it was below freezing. It snowed later that night)

dude, I'll be nice - there is actually a really good reason its called Warsaw, and not through any lack of imagination.

Kosciusko is one of the counties in the northern Indiana Lake Region. Kosciusko County was organized between the years of 1835 and 1837, and is named in honor of Thaddeus Kosciuszko, a Polish Noble who fought with George Washington in the Revolutionary War. He was born in Warsaw, Poland, thus suggesting the name Warsaw for the county seat. In area, this is one of the largest counties in the state of Indiana, with a total of 541 square miles in its seventeen townships.

Next time try not to insert your foot in your mouth....

Yes, ignorance can be an amusing thing... ;) Being better educated in matters like that is one of the many reasons I like traveling around the world - it really opens your eyes and enlightens you - you become a lot more well-rounded, and I think it helps you avoid statements such as his above one. ;) I was just in Warsaw (Poland) last year, actually - beautiful place, although I preferred Krakow and Worclaw myself...

Anywho...

You guys planning on getting any snow this year? It's usually quite the rarity in Van... ;)

Oh don't even get me started on our 'snowy' weather lately. It's been all slushy and miserable. I love snow though, just not when its 0 degrees out and everythings all wet and disgusting. Slushy snow is worse than rain. Thank god it's all gone now.

Good to hear. Yeah, you guys don't get as cold as us out east, but it can get quite messy in Van on the other hand, as you say. :)

Chundles,

I love hot weather... it can never be too hot. Cold on the other hand... Fancy
-14? Snow that blows around like sand? It was -20something this morning. I can't wait for the day I can move south...

"madness in Texas" - seems a bit much. It's cold and icey from what I hear, and there are maybe 5 days a year like that. Texans just can't drive on it!

and aquajet- I'm going to be in Denton this Saturday. See you at the bar!

Currently 84F (29C) outside and my PowerMac is complaining. It would be bearable it if was dry heat but the humidity is in the 40s but it feels worse currently. Yay for tons of water surrounding Sydney!

Yeah, I've received some strange responses by Americans when informing them that I "plug in my car". It's not as bad though as when I tried to explain the concept to some Aussies when I was backpacking through Australia a few years ago - it was pretty much the most foreign concept they had ever heard of - I thought their heads were going to explode! ;)

Yeah, and try explaining our store and restaurant policy of "No shirt, no shoes, no service." They'll just ask "Why? " And then you'll see us walk into a McDonalds along the beach topless and barefoot like everyone else. ;)

Well I'm Canadian, and I'd rather have the snow than the humid 38-40C we got yesterday. Its even worse because the sun was You don't even need to check the UV index here........it's always EXTREMELY HIGH, or VERY HIGH. I live in the same city as Chundles as well.

I want to see some snow. Just a little.

Yep, that pretty much sums it up. ;) Ah, I loved being in Australia - the climate, the people, everything - I felt really at home. :)
