I wonder if it would just be smarter to wait until 6-7 and then go. If we're not already waiting, it's probably pointless to go now, right?

My thoughts exactly. I will just head after work and hope lines are smaller and they are still available. I might try Walmart first and see if they have any.

I'm curious how fast the apple store can crank out the customers. I'm assuming that there will be 10-20 employees processing sales at maybe a rate of 10 minutes (or less hopefully) per customer. At that rate, it could be 50 minutes to a little over an hour an a half or so wait in line for person #100. I'm also assuming that the apple store will have enough stock to handle at least a few hundred people. I've never been to the apple store for launch day for any of their products, so I may be way off. Regardless, I'm feeling less doom and gloom about not getting one.

For reference, at First Colony Mall at 12:15ish, the end of the line was a little before the tall column (at the end of tan wall area before the bricks start) and by 2:00 the line had only wrapped around to what you can see in the picture.

I might consider hitting up the Galleria later tonight but definitely won't make it around 5. Oh, if only there was an Apple store closer to Downtown where I have to be at 5... :(

I might have a chance to check out Target before 5 on Main though. I'll let everybody know if I find out anything interesting, although Target is not sounding great from other reports. I tried calling and the lady basically yelled "NO iPADS TILL 5 PM" and hung up when I tried to ask her how many were in stock. :(

Dont forget theres a target on Sawyer/taylor near i10, thats much closer to downtown.

I wasn't aware that Fry's was selling the iPad 2. It's suppose to be at Walmart, AT&T, Target, Best-Buys and Target only I believe.

No Fry's confirmed to me that they have them and will start selling them today. There was nobody in line while I was there a couple hours ago. you can also order from their website after 5.

Damn I wonder if the Main street Target will be that bad.

If I show up at say 4:45, I wonder what the odds are of me getting one. I don't think people will be lined up at Target, but who knows?

If you do, let us know. Ill be getting off at 5, but ill drive to Walmart or Target before the Apple store.

Apple galleria has about 280-300 in line now

200-250 at first colony mall now

About 30 outside of first colony Best Buy as of 20 minutes ago ( they said they had limited stock)

At first colony mall, an apple employee just announced that they would be out of the 3g models at a point in the line around 130 people or so from the front. He also said that they would probably have enough wifi versions for everyone in line, though it might not be in the color and size combo you might want.

Wow Imsuperjp ... you're lucky. I went to the Galleria Apple store (line was about 200 deep), Galleria Best Buy (around the building) , Myerland Best Buy (sold out at 4:50 with about 25 to 30 units) and Target (had 5 units) and Post Oak Walmart (2 units).

Any one have any more clues as to available units. How have the lines and inventory been at the AT&T and Verizon stores?
