Houston, TX - iPad 2 Sightings/Information

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess maybe today isn't the day (for me). I'd rather get my iPad at Target to be honest (I get a 5% discount and I hate going into the Galleria), however if Apple doesn't have any then I find it unlikely that Target would.
 
By the way, did you hear the rumor that Apple is going to open a store in Highland Village on Westheimer (near Wesleyan) soon? I hope that is true because it will be the only inner-loop store and hopefully be less crowded than the Galleria (also it would be a bit closer to me!).
 
My thoughts...

Looks like there wasn't any at the Galleria store. FWIW, I do think they are holding out and doing some sort of coordinated thing starting tomorrow. There seemed to be a lot of whispers and employees looking at each other when asked if they got any in.
 
Sorry, I didn't get a chance to make it out today. I had to go into work. Sigh. But please let us know the status if you guys find out anything. I will try to find a way to leave work if need be.
 
Just got a 32 white wifi from the uh main campus computer store (Cougarbyte). They had one 16 black wifi left about an hour ago. I worked there a couple of months ago, managers said they may get some throughout the week and they'll sell first come first serve if anyone wants to give them a try!

I heard a rumor that they were opening a new store somewhere in Houston, but I don't remember the location. But Highland Village on Westheimer would be awesome. I work about 5 minutes from there.
 
Best Buy Galleria Reservation

Hi everyone,

Suprisingly, this will be my first Apple product. Pretty excited. To my point, I reserved an iPad at BB Galleria and got a number in the 70s. I was hoping to get a call yesterday or today as guy taking reservations told me they were expecting some the night before and should have been coming in that night. Reserved on Saturday. I haven't called, but thought I'd ask if anyone has an update.

Damn if I had known that an hour ago I might have driven over there to check it out before I went into Rice!

I'm number 32 and havent heard anything either. The guy on Saturday said that they were expecting a shipment on Saturday afternoon...but I guess that didnt happen. Maybe tomorrow?

More than anything, I am just paranoid that they don't call me and I somehow loose my reservation. I'll post as soon as I get a call. I am guessing that they will either call in the evening or the morning (assuming shipments come in end of day).

Completely agree with you! Guess you just have to have faith that their system will work. i'll let you know if I hear from them. Based on what I've read, new shipments might have arrived today and they will be calling tonight or tomorrow for us to pick it up. It was strange how bullish the BB guy was though....he said the Friday shipment was 300 and they were expecting a similar number on Saturday (but he probably didnt really know)
 
Mine arrives tomorrow. I heard they set up a distribution center in Austin at SXSW, so called a friend who went over and got mine. Black 32 g wi-fi, which is exactly what I wanted. (I had told her to get anything, just make sure I got one. Haha!) She's overnighted it to me. If you have friends in Austin, they close at 5:00 or when they sell out, whichever comes first. It's at 6th and Congress.

It's going up right next to Sprinkles Cupcakes in Highland Village.
 
So when I get home at 5:30 or so, do you think there's anywhere that might still have anything in stock? Any idea how late the UH computer store is, or where it is located on campus (I don't know UH campus well but I don't live too far).
 
Seems like there will be a 2nd launch tomorrow at 9am specifically aimed at iPad 2 sales. Not sure which apple stores will be opening an hour earlier. Memorial, galleria, willowbrook, sugar land, woodlands.

Any details? I'd love to get one. I've been calling around all day long, but these retail folks are trained and obedient when it comes to revealing any useful information at all.

I'd like to know myself but it seems they're not answering there phones. If this holds true I will make an appearance early tomorrow.

Guy at Sugarland just said that he doesn't think they'll be opening early tomorrow.

And Galleria and Memorial City currently reporting "There are more than eight calls ahead of you..."
 
So I just got home from school and I am guessing there is no chance of getting an iPad today.

Target didn't get a shipment, Apple doesn't answer their phones, UH Bookstore is closed (and unlikely that they even have any left)...

Was anybody able to buy one in H-Town today?
