Fundamentally broken? Are you high? Have you actually USED iOS 7 at all? The only thing most people are complaining about is the design of some stupid icons. That does not make an OS "fundamentally broken".

They're TONS of issues. Don't be blind. I just posted another one above.

“@gt: Why the blur effect is a bad idea in iOS 7: It's unpredictable. What's that icon on the right? http://t.co/W3XkFH6zKY

Finally a reasonable example of the problem with transparent/frosted glass UI. It's lazy design work simply because the designer no longer has control of the environment. Frosted glass is completely dependent on what is underneath it at the time. I'm sure we will definitely see some combinations of apps and wallpaper that will make control center unreadable as well.

No need to mince words, the OS has some huge, ****** design flaws.

As much as I don't mind the new look of iOS 7, I much prefer the look of those (the left screenshot's) icons.

It's more of a happy medium between iOS 6 and 7.

I agree in principal but I think your changes didn't go far enough, they need to lose the kiddy-colour feel about iOS 7, it's not a pre-school toy after all!

Ha! YOU tell my 2.5 year old daughter that and deal with the consequences... :D

Horrid excuse.

Can I step in here and ask you what hardware/software company you work for and how much experience you have? I'm honestly not trying to be a d*ck or cause any troulbe... and if you don't want to answer, that's fine. You're obviously a dev of some sort if you've got the beta build.

It just seems to me like maybe you're drawing parallels from your own experiences and it's "apples to oranges" so to speak.

I don't have hands-on experience with iOS 7 but I can tell you little things like phantom icons in the frosted section is absolutely acceptable in any beta that I've seen. In fact, finding those types of things is part of the whole point of Beta, isn't it?

Now if you can find some show-stopping usability problems, sure... those may be a bigger issue. But finding low-level bugs seems to be par for beta.

refuse to update to ios7, because the UI and UX is awful, and fundamentally broken.

A few questionable app icons ≠ fundamentally broken.

The only icons I dislike are Settings, Safari and Game Center. But I certainly don't think the UI is fundamentally broken. There are just a few hitches to work out. For example, the text-based buttons in every app often get messy and cluttered at the top of the screen. They have months to work these issues out.

Of course there are! It's the BETA! And the first beta, at that. I don't know what kind of dreamworld you live in, wherein beta software is bug free...but that's kind of the point of releasing one.

And even WITH those issues, it is still not "fundamentally broken". That would indicate that the OS is unusable, which is far from the case.

You are making a mountain out of a molehill, here, mate. Calm down.

These aren't bugs, these are fundamental design issues that were SIGNED off by Ive, and co.

This tweet sums it up. If you know who Teehan/Lax are, you know they aren't some armchair designer kid in his mom's basement. These are respected guys who run their own agencies and do killer ****.

"@gt: @dhg @philcoffman @mdo Rushed. Ive should have stepped in and said this isn't good enough. Not enough "no's". Needed more than 1000."

No, but YOU are acting like some sort of armchair designer. All you are doing is quoting tweets and calling things "broken" without offering much evidence of what is in fact broken.

So the only issues that have so far been brought up are:

- Icons
- Frosted glass

It's beta 1 - if you dont know what that implies, you shouldn't be using the damn os.

The fixes which we will see:

- Improved icons
- Deeper frost effect to make text visible.

Quite simple really. Now get up off that damn armchair and make something better if you think you can. Otherwise put up with it or dont use it.

That's a very good start.

- I dont know if it's the background, but the Messages and Phone app look less bright. Much better.

- Fantastic job on the Reminders icon!

- Your Notes and Settings icon also looks much cleaner.

- I happen to like the iOS 7 Passbook icon and would leave it as is (the only good one they released)

- You've improved the iTunes, Mail, Videos and App Store gradients substantially.

- You've also done a good job with Camera, but the use of an old style camera still doesn't make sense. Bring back the lens!

- Music, Safari, Calendar, GameCenter, Compass (why didn't they kill it?), Stocks, Maps, Weather and NewStand icons still look like rubbish though.

I'm stunned that both Apple and its "fan base" are fixated on pretty pictures and logos. There are some significant functionality issues in iOS that affect business users and anybody else who doesn't just use the iphone as a toy.

Why isn't there more of a discussion around that? I don't get it.

Very nice. I like your revisions better. Much cleaner and more refined. Definitely send this to Apple right away! Especially the redesigned control center, that's how it should've been.

I don't think you understand UI design which I'm not expecting you to. There is inconstancy throughout 7. An example would be selected and unselected buttons/options.

Have an average consumer pull up control center and tell you if wifi/bluetooth/etc is on or off and they'll probably guess because they have no clue. Go into another menu and suddenly selected is no longer the same color.
