Been debating whether I should just buy the iPhone 4S outright for £499 and use Giffgaff but I saw this deal and just ordered it. Just doesn't feel right spending £499 all in one go for a phone.

T-Mobile
600 Minutes
Unlimited Texts
Unlimited Internet (500MB cap for downloading and streaming though)
£35 per month
Free 16GB White iPhone 4S

I'm happy with that. Anything more than £35 a month though and I surely would have just got the phone outright.

I agree that paying out £500 is a big ask but the pro's are your not locked into a contract , have an open iPhone which is more attractive when you come to sell it and the phone is yours from the getgo.

If you multiply your £35 by the duration if the contract then I bet your not far off the initial cost if the phone anyway !

Enjoy your new toy.

In the UK for a new customer that uses a lot of data the best deal is easily the one plan from 3 mobile. (well i couldn't find any better)

£99/$153 Upfront for 16gb 4S
£35/$54 A month

2000 Any Network Minutes
5000 Texts
Unlimited Data

I agree but unfortunately the coverage in my area by the 3 network is weak

I agree but unfortunately the coverage in my area by the 3 network is weak

There is no perfect 3G solution for me in the UK

o2 - currently with; excellent speeds, average coverage
three - good speeds, good coverage but no GPRS fall back
tmobile - good coverage but capped speeds 950Kb/Sec max
orange - quite expensive and poor experience in past, v.slow 3G for me

I think i will be sticking with o2 despite the poor coverage, they are rolling out 3G900 so i hope it will improve coverage. Plus my bill is super cheap.

£19 p/m for unlimited data, unlimited cloud wifi, 1200 texts, 600 mins + visual voicemail.

As usual, the US has the crappiest infrastructure. Our phone, cable, Internet, everything is very gimped and overpriced. I'd love to catch up to the rest of the world.

Just changed provider from Orange to Vodafone and took out iPhone 4 contract for 24 months:

Free handset - iPhone 4 8gb White
600mins
Unlimited text
Unlimited data for first 3 months (then 500mb thereafter)
£28 :)

This is my first ever smartphone, so I don't have any expectations to draw from previous experience. Thoughts so far since my phone went live this morning is that Vodafone network seems pretty strong. Customer service is ok but will see how that develops.

I plan on keeping the phone for at least early 2013 and see what plans Apple have for iPhone 5/5S and may sell the iP4 and pop the sim into the new phone.

I'm on 3 UK, not the best service. Sometimes terrible, but I make due.

It's the all in one 300min, 3,000 texts, unlimited data for £15.

Using Gevey Ultra

Also tether all the time here to my MBP, it's pretty fast. Have had no issues whatsoever in the past few months.

With my discount I pay ~$78 a month after taxes and fees.

450mins w/ 5000 N/W
Unlimited text
Unlimited data

I would never get an iPhone without a discount. It's too easy to add one cause without it there's no way it's worth the cost.

$39.99(talk)+$20(messaging)+$15 (data)+tax and all that=$85

I remember I used to pay $25/mon. How are things going for everyone else?
If you just want an idea of pricing you can browse the websites of the various carriers.

I'm still on a £12 a month O2 contract with unlimited data.

Buy my phones separately.

Works out cheaper, because O2 contracts are like £21.50 a month for 500mb data which would be the minimum I could possibly use...

I am in the same boat, I have been eligible for an upgrade since 2010. I just can't bring myself to pay more for one phone than I pay for both myself and my wife now. Maybe one day data plans will drop in price. :(

10 MB is plenty if you have wifi most of the time, or browse the internet on your computer mostly. unless you are streaming audio or video, most other things people do on phones don't take too much data.

you're kidding right? all you have to do is open the maps application and move around the screen slightly and you'll have used 10-15mb of data

I pay about 95 a month before tax

Primary iPhone with unlimited data plan - 50 a month
2nd line iPhone with 2gb data plan - 45 a month.

but I am going to close 2nd line since I can't afford it especially if you are unemployed. :(

For me, it's EXPENSIVE.

The 4S is my first smartphone. My upgrade from Sprint was due 1 1/2 years ago. I don't flip phones every 2 years - only when the phones break down When I went to Sprint to finally upgrade, I didn't realize that most of the phones were smartphones. I'm not a phone person. The dumb phones "all" look and felt cheap, so I decided to get the 4S.

I realize I don't even use the full functionality of it, besides making calls. I do everything on my MB Air. I chose the 4S so that I can use it to make calls to home from international locations when I travel for work - and that's about it.

Upgrading to the 4S simply to make calls is EXPENSIVE. I pay about $120.00 (w/ tax) for 450 mins., Free any mobile to any mobile mins. at any time of day, unlimited calling after 7pm and unlimited data plus a second non-smart line phone plan, whereas I was paying $53.00 for 1000 mins, no data, unlimited calling after 7pm. for both lines. And I'm doing virtually the same thing.

My 14days are up, so I'll just live with the decision. I'm hoping I can get myself to do more with it.

Hey,

Same here I am wondering who is ur provider? Tdc?
I have a Smartphone but can't decide on the Data plan, is it a 6month minimum contract?

If u buy a smart phone, then yes, it's minimum 6 month.

Currently I'm at Telia and very pleased. High Internet speed (7-8 mb) and very good service :)

You will (and probably have) regret this decision. Unfortunately phone calls (in my experience) on all model iPhones is one of the iPhones weakest features.

I am on the other end of the spectrum. I probably use my iPhone less than 30 minutes per month for call time.

Also your rate seems pretty steep too. I currently pay $135 for 2 iphones, unlimited data on both, 550 mins, free N/W, and 200 texts each line.

$35/mo for 700 minutes voice, 220 text messages and 850MB of data.
plus a free 3GS because I signed a two-year contract

China Unicom

AT&T
3 iPhone 4
1 iPhone 4s
700 minutes $70
Unlimited message $30
3 $25 data plans
1 $15 data plan
$10 per extra line
$190 plus taxes a month with a small discount on data plans from work. Bill is right about $191 a month or $2,292 a year. Just the cost to have this stuff. Been with AT&T for 8 years and a iphone user since the first one and have always had great service. Whenever I call I always get the answers I need or the changes made if something is wrong which has happened maybe twice. Hell, once my company discount wasn't working properly and I called and they fixed it and took of the $30 messaging fee for that bill. Pretty sure sprint and Verizon cost more. And sprints 3G is about as fast as AT&T's edge network.

I pay $55/month on AT&T in U.S. for:

300 Anytime + rollover / 500 night and weekend minutes ($30)
Unlimited messaging (Free)
2GB data ($25)

What sucks about the 300/500 plan is you can't take advantage of the unlimited mobile to mobile that comes with unlimited texting. So far this month I've eaten up 150 of my 5000 rollover minutes, and I'm not accruing any more.

I've been with AT&T for over 2 years now, and never had a late payment or called and complained about anything. I called asking if there was anything they could do to lower my bill and they gave me a lower rate plan and free unlimited messaging. Being a new customer and all, I don't think you could get a deal like that, but it may be worth a shot.

AT&T is also generally cheaper than Verizon, and better. They're certainly worth the extra money over Sprint. Really all depends on where you spend most your time/live too.

That's a pretty sweet deal, does att evaluate the customers? Or you just got lucky?

I'm not sure if they evaluate their customers, but I don't think so.

I called around the time the 4S was released when a lot of customers were apparently leaving for Verizon. They were desperate to keep what customers they could I guess? I called asking what my ETF would have been and mentioned I could save money by switching to Verizon with a company discount and they guy worked a deal out for me.

It is a pretty sweet deal, saved me $30/month. Not so many people have had such luck with their support over the phone though. I've always heard it's better to go into a store and talk to them in person, but I don't have any real experience with that. I know a few people have gotten free micro cell towers by going into the store.
