Perhaps this has asked before, but how large is everyone's music collection? (and how did it get there?) Mine is a somewhat meagre 4.4gb (832 songs) , but all of it has been from downloads (mainly legal, free sites, like Epitonic). Also, which artist has the biggest share of your collection (in my case, Kraftwerk)?

3544 songs, 10 days, 15 GB all legal, my cd collection plus about 100 downloads from the iTMS, and i still have more cds to rip sometime when i have a chance

2900-ish, 17GB-ish

And I had no idea Weird Al had come out with 4500 songs!!!!

17370 songs, 48.4 days, 85.40 GB
Probably about a third purchased. I have no idea which artist is in the top spot.

FYI I starting running into some weird (and sporadic) duplicate entry problems at around 50GB. Turned off iTunes file organizing and it's been fine since then.

At 43 songs, 'Nsync is my largest artist, even though I never listen to them...

LOL compilations do scary things to you...I think there might be a New Kids on the Block song lurking in my iTunes somewhere. :)

3499 songs *must get one more to restore harmony of roundness* and basically all legal. Well, a couple Limewire downloads where I had the album and lost it shhhhhhh.... :( I'm slowly buying those back through iTunes though, cuz there's only three or four of them and I feel guilty. :)

Maybe 40 out of that are from iTMS and the rest from my CDs. I let myself buy one iTMS song every week. That's my system. :D

Came accross a weird thing in iTMS yesterday. When they added the Bad Boy 10th Anniv. collection, they finally got Hypnotize by Biggie, which I've always wanted. I could get the preview, but when I tried to download the song (immediately after searching for it!) I got this error, something like "The song you are looking for has either been relocated or removed" and it wouldn't let me buy. And then today, I searched again, found it again, was asked to update my billing info when I tried to buy it (nothing changed! ) and then, it went back to the ITMS homepage. When I searched for it again, the uncensored version was gone and only the clean version remained. Weirdness!

Also (to end the random ranting) I wish they would add a button for hip-hop that toggles between uncensored and censored versions of the same song. A lot of times you can never tell which one comes up in a list until you get it in browse view, and if you find the wrong version, there's no link back to the other one. :(

10391 songs, all from CD's I own and not yet complete (I have a lot of CD's). 31 days, 17 hrs, 35 minutes.

277.73 GB in lossless format
47.31 GB in aac format (the same library - the aac's are for my next iPod - hopefully it'll fit.)

I started converting the AAC's on Tuesday night and my PB's still grinding them out! should be finished later today (they're 160 kbps files).

I've never bought a tune from iTunes either.

This happened to me on Tuesday when I was trying to download the free song of the week, I got the same error mesage you did, and it wouldn't let me download it....

*sob*

I try to download music legally, but....everything against me...it's like iTMS is saying "p2p! p2p! p2p!!!"

I try.... :D :D :D

1477 songs, 8.66 GB. All from CDs. Atmost 10 from p2p. My ibook is almost full and I have sold my iPod.. Hence I am stuck on this collection for last 3 months, hopefull till 28 june only.. :)

biggest no. of songs would be deep purple, at 148, closely followed by metallica at 140 :D

cheers

i have 2900 songs - all legal but it does include a few awful tunes that came along with comics such as The Sun and Daily Mirror on a Saturday. 13.98gb in size plus a couple of audiobooks. Waiting for iTunes Europe to come along next week and hopefully i'll be upto 3,000. Looking forward to getting that credit card out!!!

Am I the only moron who doesn't know how to get an automatic count of how many songs by an artist out of iTunes?

Can someone help? I don't have (or want) playlists for each artist if that's the answer.

My current library is 4,073 songs, 11.5 days, 19.54 GB.
I have 15 more GB worth of AAC on an external that doesn't travel with me.
Bob Dylan is my biggest artist on here: 475 songs, 1.5 days, 2.67. I used to have about a week's worth of Dylan--but I did some housecleaning. Still trying to decide what to do with the 150+ boots.

Given the amount of bootlegging coming from the Grateful Dead, Dylan, and Neil Young--I can't say it's entirely legal.

See sig ;)

Around 60% are legal, I only ever buy stuff I can't find in HMV/Virgin/Woolies/etc.. which since I have quite bizarre taste, accounts for rather a large amount. Besides, that's the 40% I never listen to anyways, those stores only ever sell poppity-punkity crap.
I do keep a complete backup of my CD collection, since most of these are uber-limited Ant-Zen or Adnoiseam releases, and I do not want them to get screwed up!

iTunes Library Size

6112 Songs, 18.3 days, 36.99 gb

All 192 VBR, LAME encoded, MP3.

Only about 7 tracks from iTMS.

I will convert to 192 AAC when Apple comes out with a replacement for my AudioTron, (the AirTunes is a good first step, but I still need a good UI at the stereo unit).
