Am I the only moron who doesn't know how to get an automatic count of how many songs by an artist out of iTunes?

Can someone help? I don't have (or want) playlists for each artist if that's the answer.

Look through all of your artists, one at a time in the browse mode. Then you can find the one with the most (or at least that's how I did it).

to make it a lil more clear, write the name of the artist in the search bar, so that it wd tell u only the songs frm that artist.

Cool but I can't do that for hundreds of artists. I thought there was a shortcut to some statistics....

1146 songs, 3 days, 4.42Gb

Small I know, but I don't have the money to buy much music.

Oh, most of it is legal, from my CDs.

Probably The Beatles and Lead Zeplin have the biggest showing but I actualy don't listen to them that much. The Goo Goo Dolls are the biggest that I listen to regularly, about 5 albums.

as much as i love iTunes and the other iApps, i'm a megar music listener as well, with only 636 songs at 1.90 gigs on my powerbook's 30gig harddrive/5gig ipod. every so often, i go through my library, re-rate the tracks and if a song doesn't have more then 2 stars, i trash them. the weird stuff i listen to gets boring after awhile. the majority of the songs are from the dance dance revolution soundtracks

I have around 3941 songs, all legal from my CD collection & iTunes, 13 days, 16.88 GB. I have 197 tracks from Bartok for 9.3 hrs, 516.6 MB, but Miles Davis comes in at 104 tracks, 14.2 hrs, and 784.4 MB, with Coletrane a close second at 74 tracks, 11.2 hrs, and 617MB.

7445 songs, 21.8 days, 44GB. All legal. Most common band is Depeche Mode (which can happen if you buy everything released after about 1985) but The Damned, The Pixies, and Nick Cave all make hefty contributions too.

2449 songs - 6.6 days - 10.52 gb

pretty much all are cosher i will be using itunes music store when it opens in the uk though

I just hope they go to the trouble of getting smaller labels on board. I wouldn't mind getting some Dressy Bessy or Ladytron legally. Also TMBG, ever since eMusic.com (anyone remember that?) went buh-bye, I've not had my legal mp3 fix.

FYI, I used the itunesregistry thing to save me looking up artists in itunes. Apparently, I have:
365 Skinny Puppy tracks (one for each day of the year, baby)
243 They Might Be Giants
225 XTC
222 Queen
... etc. Not including the ones I haven't bothered to tag, either...

10616 songs. Less than 10 downloaded. 46,28 GB. 30:11:11:34

Top 10 artists:

Bob Dylan, 548 songs
Elvis Costello, 346 songs
Van Morrison, 239 songs
XTC, 215 songs
Joni Mitchell, 203 songs
The Beatles, 151 songs
Warren Zevon, 146 songs
Elton John, 146 songs
R.E.M., 140 songs
Tom Waits, 133 songs

iTunes library at the moment at 1637 songs equals 5.2 days of music and 6.94 GB. All legally bought. But only the CDs, no downloads from anywhere.

iTunes now playing: Beatles, Sun King, Abbey Road album

2261, 9.88 GB, 5.8 days

57: green day
57: death cab for cutie
60: les savy fav
67: guided by voices

i give up looking through my library there, i have a pile of paul simon stuff that i have not ripped yet too.

It isn't always the number of songs you have of an artist always reflects what's most played, so to add a feature to this thread: What's your top list when sorting by Play Count?

33 The Offspring: Pretty Fly For A White Guy (feat. KoRn Lowrider Remix)
33 Zwan: Honestly
30 Me First And The Gimme Gimmes: Seasons In The Sun
30 Me First And The Gimme Gimmes: Nothing Compares 2 You
29 The Cult: Edie (Ciao Baby) (Acoustic)
27 The Aller Værste: Du Sklei Meg Så Nær Innpå Livet
26 The Cult: She Sells Sanctuary
24 A New Found Glory: I Don't Want To Miss A Thing
24 Glow: Dancing Queen
24 Michael Andrews: Mad World (full version)

(Fresh install 6 months ago zeroed out all tracks :()

79 Less Than Jake songs? Sounds like something to be shamed of, to me

I'm more ashamed of my one - 1 - Mel C song (from an Austin Powers OST - and yes it is unchecked), that is far worse than having a cople of Punk/Ska tunes... ;)

If you look at the rest of my Top 15, then LTJ isn't exactly out-of-character either... There's nothing like a cool punk band with a full brass lineup... :D
