The LG isn't the trigger for you to be frustrated with apple.

Look at the way the Palm Pre works. Look at how the HTC Magic runs. These are phones to frustrate you.

The potential size and thickness of that LG would suggest that it would be a low powered phone, similar to the Samsung Tocco. There is no way that LG will be running >700mhz clock speed and 16GB+ storage space. That little thing would end up hotter than half of a GHD hair straightener if it was as well specced as an iPhone 3GS.

I am not a fanboy

I'm brand new to the iphone as of the 3gs coming from blackberries and before that the treo

a) the phone in the video is not an iphone killer. No phone is an iphone killer. There is room in the marketplace for many phones to compete. iPhone has enough marketshare AND people who love them enough that while it may lose marketshare if something comes along people flock too - it certainly will not DIE - at least not for a long time.

b) I'm sorry you feel let down by Apple. I'm not. So don't include me in your waaaaaambulance type posting saying we're all let down. Take ownership of your OWN feelings and just say that YOU feel let down. If you feel that strongly, you should have no problem standing "alone" if you are indeed alone. If you're not alone, all the better for you. But you shouldn't need approval from anyone - let alone strangers - to justify your feelings

The point is,... both the Pre and Magic are ugly as ****.

My main concern right now is that my iPhone integrates with everything I own from Apple... and mobile me is ... Godly.

Maybe I should just be happy LG is there to push apple a bit - and they wont pull the recycling of design again.

I still think that LG makes my iPhone look like something I found at a street-merchant in beijing

I don't understand when people say that they are surprised the iPhone didn't get an overhaul or don't know why it didn't. Here [see attached] is how I know that the iPhone will pretty much always look the same save for minor differences.

Apple gets their designs right the first time. If you don't like the way an Apple product looks to begin with you probably shouldn't get it, because the design isn't going to change that much.

Let's not forget that the phone will be offered by Verizon and that the UI will more than likely be crippled in some way to conform to their bland, uniform theme.

It does look cool in the video though. I wouldn't trade my iPhone for one, but I would stop by a store to play with one for 5 minutes.

Looks cool, but in the end I have never been happy with LG phones. They usually look cool, then end up being crap with crashing software & what not.

I love my :apple:

How about you calm down for a sec and take it easy. You see the question mark in the title? Did they teach you about that in school?

And just to spell it out for you, the question mark refers to the question in the bottom of my original post.

and let me apologize for the snappy post already - I felt offended by yours.

"I still think that LG makes my iPhone look like something I found at a street-merchant in beijing"

LOL... then buy one and start drooling over at the LG message board.

Not to get into that discussion right now, but I think the picture shows just how much Apple innovates their design every single time. They keep the simple concept, and delivers with cutting edge design - defining style for its time.

(not the case with the 3Gs)

You know - I think you're just bored with your iPhone/design. Because the majority of people in the world still consider the iPhone one of the slickest/if not THE slickest piece of technology out there for a mobile device.

SO again - that's YOUR interpretation, not the general public.

It's friggen not even real. It's all render so I'll wait for it to get release before I start making comments. Seriously, you are comparing a render video of LG chocolate to an actually product. I granutee you the iPhone OS is going to Be better than LG chocolate....period...

800 x 345 display? WTH? How much vertical scrolling are you gonna have to do with that?

You know - who really cares. The phone hasn't hit the market or been reviewed. It could very well be a GREAT phone. Again - who cares. If you're going to dismiss your iPhone before trying one out then how much do you really like your iPhone?

It's like the people who complained they were loyal att customers and also say they will jump to a new carrier as soon as the iphone is on anything besides att.

No one made you buy an iPhone. And whether it's a month from now or a year from now, something newer, shinier, and perhaps even better might come along.

WHEN that time comes, evaluate whether or not the other or newer device is worth upgrading or switching to and do it.

Until then, there's no need to scream, rant, rave about how good the iphone is or how much they've let you down any more than it makes sense to praise another phone or tear it apart without even having any experience with it.

How much credit would YOU give to a movie review if you knew the person had never seen the movie? Without the experience, the commentary is.. well.. meaningless.

Yeah, I was saying the way they work. I do have to say that the dimensions of that LG are rather awkward and are detrimental to the overall aesthetic appeal of the phone for me. It kind of reminds me of the Nokia with only a scroll wheel for input and floral patterns that probably had the same prime demographic (13-18 year old girls with an unhealthy obsession for Zac Efron and the colour pink), but whatever floats your boat matey!

This is much better looking than the LG juicyfruit, runs an excellent OS, the photos compel me to believe its build quality is comparable to my iPhone 2G and isn't vapourware...

How can LG do that?

Because it is a hell of a lot easier to DESIGN a workable user interface for a CGI-only ad than it is to IMPLEMENT one for an actual working device.

So until you can show us the same video but with actual live hardware.....it is nothing but vapor.

Agree with you there. Like how can you believe a cgi render video. People are so easily fool.

Personally I can't see why some people are getting their knickers in a twist!

Come on - get real! It was always inevitable that Apple's competitors were not going to sit on their hands and do nothing while Apple grabbed all the sales.

So LG have come up with a new 'phone. So what? Obviously it looks good in a specially shot promo but don't forget the Pre looked pretty good too!

In my opinion, they've all got a lot of catching up to do. What with Apple's so intuitive operating system and their App Store.

I'm certainly not worried and neither should any of the other tens of thousands of iPhone owners. :)

"How dare" Apple?

The iPhone 3GS is going to be a superior phone. NO ONE has come close to Apple's OS. Right there, end of discussion. The OS is EVERYTHING.

Secondly, I wasn't that impressed with the screen. Looks ill-proportioned.

You know - who really cares. The phone hasn't hit the market or been reviewed. It could very well be a GREAT phone. Again - who cares.
Yeah, it would be foolish of me to be able to predict how this device is going to work in some ways due to a strange aspect ratio.

If you're going to dismiss your iPhone before trying one out then how much do you really like your iPhone?
Who said anything about my iPhone? I was talking about the LG.

You know the iPhone has 320p vertically in landscape, right?
I do. But it's only 480 pixels wide. Which means extra horizontal scrolling as well when a webpage is shown at (near) native resolution. But the iPhone has ways to handle that. My concern with this LG is that the aspect ratio seems way off from what I would consider fairly normal usage.

Sure, it looks slick, very thin and narrow. Some people will buy into the look, but it's the OS and app availability that are important to me. We'll see how LG does with this phone.

I have a friend who used to have an LG chocolate, it was pretty but the speakers must have been messed up (she went through 2 with the same problem), the volume was so low, she could hardly hear anyone. All that style and no basic function.
