In a Nutshell: those of you whom think Android is on equal playing feel are simply not pedantic enough to appreciate the details. It's more than mere differing of opinion. You guys exist in a completely differing mindstate in fact. There's not enough time to get into it here...

If anyone is interested, here's a quick video I made showing how the Google Search app for iPhone and iPad works just like Google Now.

YouTube: video

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/google-search/id284815942?mt=8

Since you think it's the same, make a video asking it for directions to Walmart, it won't bring it up. Ask it to call Best Buy, it won't dial it. Ask it to send a message to someone, it won't do it. Obviously the searches will be similar because they are google searches, but doing a search and running Google Now is most certainly not the same. A search will give you absolutely no control over anything in your device, whereas Google Now does (ie texts, calls, navigation, maps, etc). Case Closed.

Yeah well Ill keep it real simple for ya bub: step off cuzz. Swaggie.

Please stop attacking my character. Im not like that. I am the obverse of that.

As always, you can't take criticism, and you feel the need to correct miss spelled words, as if somehow that is either proof of your own intelligence or proof of the lack of intelligence of the person you are quoting. I honestly am the fool here because I keep wasting my time with you.

People get upset when they realize they wasted their money on an inferior product. Buy the :apple: Fooled by the :apple:

That's the thing. I don't think either product is strictly inferior. Each has its perks. Why people INSIST that one is better than the other to the point of belittling others about it is beyond me.

I just hope Apple doesn't pull the "longer phone" this time, and in two versions/releases from now, give us the wider version so its THEN wider and longer, like the samsung is now.

I was a litte heartbroken when the iPhone 4S came out and it was the same size/design as the 4.

I know not many are fans of it, but personally i just love the size of that samsung. And no, Im not threatening to switch, just a little envious (and dont want to get milked for two years/releases just to get to that size).

Brand loyalty will only carry them through so far though... Look at Apple in the mid 90s - Where was their brand loyalty then?

Entirely different circumstances because Apple never had the momentum it has now, and Steve Jobs left his people running the place, rather than being ousted by idiots.

The iPhone "5" will do 10 million units within a couple of weeks, and will dominate all sales charts from day one. There is no denying this.

The challenge for competitors is trying to get attention after the launch, and gaining and maintaining momentum right up until the launch and after.

The news, the long lines, and internet commentary all but ensure Apple will win again in terms of moving units. That is unless Tim Cook literally blows it and I really don't see that happening.

4G LTE. Sure it's not a big deal for me here in CT, but for people in and around the major metros, it's a BIG deal. Like BIG. Everything else is just icing on the cake.

What I want to know is what is with the complete and utter BLIND devotion that people have with their electonics? Can you not look at both with an open mind and appreciate the differences without getting all zealot-y about it? (referring to everyone who just ploughs through these threads with a complete black and white mentality).

One of the problems I have, is not that I am so devout a follower that I can not acknowledge that some other phone may have more or better hardware,
it is that you get posts where people suggest that by preferring the IOS, or the iphone, you are branded a zealot or a fanboy. Most seem to want people to acknowledge that they made the wrong choice. And I have not. Or they want people to validate their own choices. I will never ask for validation of my choices from people I do not know on a website.
I don't have a problem with people coming on this forum and posting about their Android or W7 experience, as long as they don't preach. Tell me you like it, fine. Tell me why, fine. But don't tell me that if I don't switch, I am just an idiot or a fanboy, or a zealot.
I do agree with you that the vocal people on this forum seem to have this black and white mentality, shades of "you are either for us or against us".

I have to admit that I've been feeling the same way as of late.

I am sorry to disagree with you but I have the SSGS3 and as far as crispness goes, I cannot tell the difference between my retina ip4 and this device DESPITE how much larger the screen is! Retina is no longer an issue unless you have a POS older phone.

I have hold an S3 up to an iPhone or an HTC One X you will see a big difference in the whites and the brightness. I have done it. Puts the S3's screen to shame. It is still a nice screen though, as long as you are not next to those two screens mentioned above.

See now here is the entire crux of the matter isn't it? Yes there is a difference in between the lighting technology used in iPhone and AMOLED. This is known. If you want it to be whiter and brighter you turn off the Auto adjust screen tones in the settings menu and it brings it closer in whites and brightness to the phones you mentioned (the auto screen adjust is set by default). I did not buy the phone so I could put it next to my old iP4 and go "yep, dang it's not as eye searingly bright when I max the brightness out". Or "wow, the icons are really crisper on my iP4 when I put my nose up to both devices".

I bought the device to REPLACE my iP4, not to put it next to and compare every detail. If there is a shortcoming in the phone I will find it readily enough without having to put things side by side and compare them.... Yesterday in bright daylight for a test, I went outside and surprise surprise I COULD use the screen in broad daylight, no problems.

Basically any review I have put forth regarding the GS3 has been neutral without "I like this better, this blows this away" but you wanna know what? The screen on the SSGS3 Blows the tiny minuscule iP4 screen out of the water.. there is NO comparison to how much better the screen on the SSGS3 is. NONE. Mind you, this is MY opinion and I would appreciate it if people would stop trying to supplant my opinion with theirs! You can't convince me anymore than I can convince you!

I suspect if you put any two devices side by side you will notice differences. ie: I got so used to my imac 27" 2650x1440 screen that when I bought my monster gaming PC I HAD to buy a similar resolution screen because the reg gaming screen resolutions just weren't good enough. Especially since the monitors are in close proximity to each other....

Hell, to take this even a step further, this is the first phone I could ever type in portrait mode with without taking 3 mins just to type out 3 sentences!

I am not going to overly sing SSGS3's praises because it is still a new phone to me and hasn't earned it's status as great phone (with ME) yet, only time will tell if it proves to be a worthy device.

The taller screen on the 5 will be the iPhone's first major decline in the userbase. Sure it will be thinner, have a nicer camera, a better port, and better overall build quality, but Apple knows the screen is the biggest selling point and so do we. Most people will think "omgahd bigger screen" and fall for the marketing hype but the smart ones will see that a taller screen is a HUGE copout and they will start looking elsewhere.

Considering market share is the only truly objective measure of a products success, I'd say the real question is "What other handset can truly stand a chance of relevancy in the marketplace compared to the iPhone?"

Point.Set.Match.

You may be right, but the Samsung devices are nothing to scoff at

Just based on the fact that people buy iPhones because they are iPhones it's unlikely there will be the major decline you are hoping for.

No, they aren't and I don't intend to sound that way. Samsung phones of one flavor or another, according to the most recent Nielsen survey, command a whopping 17% of the US smartphone marketplace as of Q2 of this year. That's still only half of the market share owned by Apple with iPhones of various flavors at 34%.

Nothing to scoff at, sure. But still firmly tier 2 when compared to Apple's commanding lead of brand loyalty.

One thing we can both agree on....totally blows to be a RIM/Blackberry shareholder at this point.

No. Thousands of people trade in larger Android's for iPhones every day. My best friend did and I asked him how it was adjusting from a 4.3" Droid to an iPhone and he said it wasn't too much of an issue. Before that phone he had a Droid Eris so he's been on both sides.

The screen size issue is an overblown "tempest in a teapot" issue that primarily shows up mainly in forums. Those that believe screen size is a dealbreaker know their looking at non Apple phones.

4" will be fine for many people. Though I can already hear the war chant getting louder from geeks. Now it's not sufficient to have a larger screen unless it's wider as well.

Apple isn't obsoleting any products with a smaller dock connector but make the phone wider and it suddenly doesn't fit in current docks and that's a no go.

You're totally right dude. I may have an SGSIII, but I will certainly be in line at the Apple store waiting to upgrade my fiancee's iPhone 4 to whatever the new things is, pretty much regardless of the specs.

and yet here you are, still on an apple forum even though you have switched the SGS3.

So if you are bothered about people trying to convince you that the iPhone is better please bare in mind that you are now an Android owner on an iPhone forum.

A lot of people here don't care how much better you think the SGS3 is, take it to an Android forum where I'm sure countless other users will join in on the praise.

Oh and before I go, I personally think the SGS3 is a really nice phone but I don't come here to read about that. Most people on here are looking forward to the next iPhone.

You do have a point Sir Ruben, I kind of forgot that for a moment.

For what it is worth, I too am looking forward to the next iPhone :)

Thanks for the grounding, I think I got caught up in the hype!!

Again, she just wants people to justify her switch for her.

I feel that's why a lot of android users troll post etc. Not all, but definitely a good amount.

Honestly, if you're tempted to go to Android try it out. It might be better for your needs, it might not be. I had two iPhones, then a plethora of Android devices (I still own a Xoom) before realizing every custom rom, new app etc. I was just looking for the same worry free experience I had on my iPhones. I switched back. Sometimes iOS feels stale compared to what you see in Android, but honestly I'm in apps more often anyways.
