I'm ordering the 42 Space Grey Sport.

I tried both the Sport and SS this morning. Both are of high quality and the Sport is the better purchasing decision for this 1st gen product unless money is not a factor for you.

The bigger drawback with the Sport is not missing out on stainless steel but rather the straps. You can always purchase a strap separately down the road however.

You guys need to realize that if you are comparing a the aluminum to the stainless steel, you don't understand how this works. The SS is not for the same people who are considering a sport version. Granted most of you are settling for the sport because you don't want to pay for the stainless.

But the SS is intended for those who plan on working out and dressing up all while using the same watch. If i buy an SS, i can just swap bands and have the appropriate watch.

With the Sport, it will never be classy enough for a suit. People will do it, but it's not a suit watch.

Its not about whether the SS is better than the Sport. They have the same internals. One is not better than the other. Its all about your lifestyle.

It's cool..... I don't wear suits. !

That's fine as I wear a suit about 2-3 x's a year. Lol

I much prefer the sportier looking SG Sports version as it fits a lot better into my lifestyle being a Fireman and gym nut. :)

I'd argue that a Space Grey sport watch paired with one of the leather bands (or the link bracelet) would actually work quite well worn with a suit. Its not shiny like the SS watch, but with a leather or metal band it does look perfectly professional

I think the difference between a space grey sport and SS watch is just a matter of one being slightly more noticeable (oooh shiiny!) than the other.

After my try on appointment (which they guy I had was pretty clueless about the watch functionality) the space grey is the way to go for the sport model.

I tired on both and much preferred the space grey sport. The SS didn't feel any more premium to me.

Exactly, thats why the sport is perfect for someone like you(us).

You're right, Im sure it could but in general, the sport is not a suit watch. Lets not fool ourselves into thinking the sport version carries the same weight when it comes to a dress watch.

#shinymatters.....but thats ok.

I'm going to the store today to check them out. I ordered the Sport SG/B. I'm keeping it no matter what.

I've already decided that I won't be thinking of this item as jewelry. Period. So as long as it's not fugly, which it isn't, I'm happy.

I don't want to spend much on it. To me it's merely for functionality. I think it looks good, anyway, but that's that.

I loved the silver sport. It's a lot lighter than the SS. I'm not a fan of black watches so I didn't pay much attention to the space grey but it looked nice in the case.

Personally, I liked the sport more, at least in black.

But maybe it was because I liked the Sport band more than I thought I would. It was really nice. I was leaning, but will be getting the Sport now.

Been reading a few threads saying the sport looks a bit cheap and not a patch on the SS, I've ordered the space grey, did anyone try that on and what does it feel like on the wrist ?

The silver sport watch looked like a cheap techie watch IMO.... The black and the stainless versions looked very high end. They were gorgeous in person.:p:cool::apple:

I tried the silver sport, gray sport, and stainless on and I feel like the silver sport looks cheaper in photos, but better up in person. The stainless definitely feels more premium all around, but having put them all side by side I did not feel it was ultimately worth the difference in price for a first gen product that I'm not even sure I will fall in love with. But I did really like seeing it on my wrist.

I'm happy with my silver sport pre order.

I tried on a bunch. To me the SS looks a little better, but both feel solidly built. Also the sport band is the most comfortable and best feeling band, hands down.

I feel like I'm the only person who picked the green Sport band. It lasted the longest so it most be the unpopular:(

I've gone for the SW with White Strap because in the mock ups I looked at the silver aluminium went better with a leather strap that the SG - I want to wear it for work, and make it look a bit smarter. Also, just couldn't justify paying for the SS version, certainly not for the 1st gen, but there's no doubt it looks much better

I have a Raymond Weil watch for when I actually need a smart looking watch, so I can live with the aluminium the rest of the time

I really liked the green, just wouldn't go with anything that I wear

Ordered 42mm Space Gray Sport

12:01AM (3:01AM EST) and had it in my favorites. Used Apple Pay with Barclaycard Apple Rewards, checked out--less than 2 minutes. Got a confirmation delivery date of April 24 - May 8. (East Coast)

Tried on the watch at the Apple store, was undecided between the Space Gray sport and the SS with milanese loop or classic leather. The sport looked the best imo. Extremely light and could go with just about anything you wear, maybe except a suit or a more "date night" attire. The milanese loop looked ehh ok.. Kinda cheapy and not in the "less expensive" way if you know what I mean...

Also I asked the guys overthrew what they though about the Space gray aluminum coating, if it got dinged/scratched up and show really badly like the iPhone 5. They assured me that and I quote "it won't be anything like that nightmare!".

All in all the watch feels great on the wrist, I don't have huge wrists but 38mm I thought was a tad too small for me, I prefer a little more screen real-estate.

I uploaded some pictures of the try on experience. The Space Gray is 42mm and I also have a space gray 42mm with the blue leather loop, a SS 42mm milanese loop, and I also included a 42mm SS (heart display) and 38mm SS (flower display)my wife tried on in case you want to see on a woman's wrist.

Same here, really. I grabbed it because the SG was pushed back 4-6 weeks after a few minutes (the website went slow and I had to use the app). I'll probably throw a black or white band on it in a month.

Is that the 38mm? The size looks good for your wrist. Not that I'm checking out your wrist or anything...haha j/k. I wouldn't want some big watch on my arm ya know? I could just go out and get a Marc Ecko watch if I want that.

No it's 42mm, to be honest I was expecting the 42mm to look a little bigger.

IMO this one looks best on your arm, of the three you posted!

That's what I was saying myself. I had my mind set on the SG but after trying it on. I wasn't impressed on how it look, on my arm. I told the store clerk to put the SG on so I could see it on him. And it definitely look better on lighter complexion people for sure. Didn't want to spend the extra $200, but I am not going to buy Something that's doesn't look good on my arm to me. So SS it is.
