The silver sport watch looked like a cheap techie watch IMO.... The black and the stainless versions looked very high end. They were gorgeous in person.:p:cool::apple:

people who are familiar with the items know what they cost....so i wouldn't get so wrapped up in "looking high end" they're $400-$900 watches...unless you bought a $10,000 watch you're def NOT high end, so who cares what it looks like, as long as you LOVE it, that is all that should matter.

I understand that I'm probably the minority but the SS version looks awful compared to the Sport, in my opinion. The Sport is much more sleek. I lucked out with liking the cheapest option the best; that never happens.

Love the 42mm Sport. 60mm wrist width and 174mm circumference.

I tried on all models and was able to swap bands around The 42mm Sport Space Grey is the one I ordered at 3:00am and the one I liked best at try-on.

looks the part! can't wait, but is it really as big as it seems in your pic?

The pics always make it appear bulky. I think it is mostly because we are so used to seeing watches taper down as the approach your skin. This one does not taper or sit as flat as a normal watch.

It sits and feels so light on your wrist it really is such a different experience than what you expect from pictures.

So many people have mentioned it looks much bigger in pictures and I can honestly whole heartedly say that is 150% true :)

It does not look near as chunky in person.

Also... The sport band always looks loose on the top side because it has the opposing band tucked behind it. It really is up against my wrist even if it looks like it is not against it.

great little review right there! thanks so much, I was thinking about the top side band, not sure if I want to go try it on or wait till it gets delivered:apple:

My impressions:

Apple Watch Sport (silver) - This was a real surprise for me. The Sport looked absolutely amazing in person. The aluminum finish is such a lovely clean finish that, to my delight, differs from the finish on the iPhone, iPad, etc. I was expecting a watch that feels like a generic aluminum Apple product but this is truly a gorgeous aluminum watch. The black on the face is bold: the OLED display makes it melt into the Watch. On the aluminum model, the contrast between the silver body and deep black watch face was striking. Even without taking the display into consideration, I genuinely like the way this watch looked off. Wow, I am much more impressed with the aluminum Sport than I was expecting.

Apple Watch Sport (Space Grey) - The finish on the Space Grey model was just as nice as the silver but frankly I found the silver design to be much more lively. What really sealed the deal for the silver to me was the contrast between the display and the silver body. While some may prefer the Space Grey's more subtle clean look, the silver model looked substantially better than in pictures while the Space Grey looked more or less as expected.

I was going for the sport SG, but after trying it on it look. I wasn't impressed about the way it look on me. For lighter complexion people like your self it look really good. The SS look way better on my arm.

I personally think the black sports band makes the SG look like a toy but i think it looked great like this.

The sport watches are amazing. They don't feel or look cheap or toy like at all. The sport bands feel like silky butter. I loved them, but I am still good with SS :D

----------

Tried on both the SG Sport and SS Milanese and TBH was a little underwhelmed by both. The best SS is the link bracelet but at £520 more than the Sport it's just not worth it. Happy to stick with my SG Sport 42mm pre-order even if I never even saw the initial delivery date of 24/4 when the app went live for me!

I disagree with the link bracelet. Maybe if it was tighter to my skin I'd like it, but I felt it uncomfortable. The best one hands down was the Leather Loop and Sport.

I had similar impressions. Going with silver aluminum and a black band. Like this pic:

I feel the screen itself is the real eye candy of the watch and the aluminum and SS just fade away. Yes, while your arm is down the screen is off but it is still the dominant feature. The SS will look smudgier once it gets finger prints on it but it is definitely nice. For the metallurgist out there, the SS is the way to go. But for me, the sport being the cheaper option is why I went for it.

Also to the suit point, I wear a suit everyday and tried the sport on with a suit. I felt that the white sport band actually looked great with the suit and the leather loop band will the silver aluminum will look even better.

So to answer the OPs question, the sport looked and felt great.

You aren't allowed to mix and match bands during try on appointments. The sport watches all have the flueuroelastomer band and the SS watches have a variety (Classic, leather loop, milanese loop, link bracelet... but conspicuously no stainless steel watch with a sport band [at least for the try on station I was at])

I was able to mix and match with no problems

They didn't allow me to switch bands either. I really liked the leather loops though, I wonder if the blue would go with the space grey Sport? Or better to go with black?

Been reading a few threads saying the sport looks a bit cheap and not a patch on the SS, I've ordered the space grey, did anyone try that on and what does it feel like on the wrist ?

Felt amazing and looked amazing. Honestly I like it much more then the SS

I went with my friend to the Apple Store and they let us both try on watches. They checked out the 38, I check out the 42. The store I went to wasn't packed to the gills, but there were a lot of people and I'm glad I made an appointment.

The Space Gray is MUCH darker then I was expecting but it was very nice. It reminds me more of the Slate colored iPhone 5 but maybe 3 or so shades lighter and no blue hue. Both sizes were smaller then I predicted but the 42 looks the best for me. My wrist size is 200/203mm and the Large Sport band fit comfortably on the last hole. If you have a wrist larger then me the Sport band might be uncomfortably tight. The silver model looks nice but I prefer the look of the Space Gray casing personally.

I got to see all the bands but only tried on the Leather loop, Milanese loop and Sport band. Overall, I think these three are the best looking ones with Milanese coming first. It's a beautiful band and made me a bit sad I couldn't afford it and the SS model(maybe in the next generation when the tech has matured a bit more). The Sport band does have a slight rubbery feel to it, but compared to other bands I have tried before this didn't irritate my skin. It's my second favorite. It feels very high quality and one that Apple spent a lot of time on. Third is the Leather loop, and all three are very close together in terms of my favoriablity. I heard someone say that the magnets were really loose but on the one I tried (Midnight Blue, amazing color) was perfect. Absolutely no problems with it.

The standard SS link looked kinda cheap but the Space Black looked very slick. I didn't get to try these on but they aren't my favorite. Modern Buckle looked nice but not my personal style. The Classic buckle looked like crap TBH. I didn't care much for it at all. The leather looks very thick and buckle kinda cheap. I didn't get to try it but it looked like a knock off. Just my 2 cents.

I saw the gold ones in the table and they were beautiful. I think my personal favorite is the yellow gold with the black Sport band. Modern, but classic as the same time. Very nice. If I had $12k to drop on a Watch, I'd get it in a heartbeat.

The steel model looks very nice, but as of right now I couldn't justify the extra cost for a Gen 1 device. Most of the bands look very nice, but the casing did attract finger prints. It's not as bad as the iPods were, but they are still there. I just hope those models don't scratch up like the iPod Classics. I hope next time they make a brushed Stainles case. That would look slick.

The software already looks very good. Some slight lag from the displays I used but not as bad as some make it out to be. The screen is BEAUTIFUL. The colors POP and the text is crisp. Overall very beautiful little wrist-worn rectangle.

Overall very pleased with my pre-order decision for the Space Gray 42mm Sport and I cannot wait to get it. Here is that model on my wrist with the large band. My wrist width is 64mm and circumference is 200mm. Sport Band fit comfortably on my wrist on the last whole.

I saw people trying on the silver Sport with suits yesterday in Regent Street and I thought they looked great. It hardly looked cheap, and looked much better than many watches which cost much more.

What colour leather loop are you considering for the aluminium Sport? I wear a suit nearly every day too, and have ordered a white Sport. I was considering the black or blue loop.
