There seems to be no end to this madness, even after waiting several weeks people are still queuing up early to purchase the iPhone 3G. I tried to get the iPhone 3G today at 10AM and they were sold out at the CA Emeryville Apple Store. I've seen reports that AT&T store shelf stock is not available and personal reserved orders are on backorder, so what was your secret?? I'm going to try waiting at 7AM tomorrow as I'm at a loss as to other solutions when I have a ~20 day constraint (going to college away from home and parents need to be present for iphone to be placed under their account).

waited in line at the Apple store starting at 2 am on launch day. They had Plenty...

you might want to consider driving to your nearest Apple store (if that's even feasible where you live)

I drove to the AT&T store at 3am (launch day) with my cousin. We watched Spider Man in the car (it was raining) until about 4:30 am, then got in line. Caribou Coffee opened at 6am, and all was right with the world. :) After realizing that they would have to send people home with unactivated iPhone's, I was the first customer out the door with one.

CA Emeryville Apple Store is my nearest one ...they were sold out when I went at 10AM today. Going to try waiting at 7AM tomorrow, unless I should go even earlier?

check the website tonight, if it shows that they will have stock, go EARLY tomorrow.. I passed by the apple store here (plano, tx) today at around noon and there was a line of people outside waiting.

Went opening day at 5 PM. Finally got the phone at 9:30 PM.

Worth it!

(I actually have the server problems to thank. Apparently very few got sold in the morning because they couldn't activate them. I don't know if they'd have had any by 9 PM if they had! Although I think so...I don't think they ran out until Sunday at that store.)

Waited 4 hours on July 11th. Got there at 8:30 (bad idea) and walked out around 12:30 with my iPhone, it was like 95 degrees too. I was glad that my phone was still shrink wrapped too so I could open it myself!

Well worth it!

emailed my ATT busines rep and he had one drop shipped to my office the next morning...this was last wednesday....

No waiting in line, recieved my phone via Fedex and then went to the store to activate....

Called Rogers at 7:30 a.m. on Jul 12, waited on hold for 1-1/2 hours, ordered the phone, and it was delivered to me on July 16. My mom called later in the day and got hers one day before me. Go figure.

Walked into my local Apple Store on the 23rd, about 5:45 PM. They were selling iPhones then, no line, the Concierge said I just had to wait on a Specialist. My Specialist finished with the customer he was working with, asked me what I wanted, I told him "16 Gig white" (that was all they had, anyway...), and he brought it out. I was in & out in under 45 minutes, and that included time looking about after buying it, and getting a dock & case.

They were forming up a line outside JUST after I first spoke with the Specialist.

I went into apple store, grabbed the tangerine wearing freak by the neck and said " give me 3G ".....

Direct Fulfilment order

From an ATT store. There was just no way that I was going to wait in line for 6 hours for a downgrade! But I needz it coz its new and shiny!!!

Black 16gb has a 2 week, max, wait. Still waiting, but better then waiting in line in NYC area...

g/f got the white one in 3 days, she loves the white, as do I. It's alot nicer in person, kinda like it should belong to a stormtrooper :D

on a side note, we hate the new hardware compared to the 1st gen. very lame stuff...g/f wants to return it, and I'm considering canceling my order.

how I got my Iphone

Walked into the new o2 store and was the first customer through the door
walked out 20 min later with 16gig phone,

lucky me

no cue,

no customers

just me and staff still stocking shelves.

Was probably 50th in line at my local Apple Store.. took 5 hours of line standing in the humid Alabama sun.. but I got it!! :D

Went to the Apple Store last Wednesday around 12PM, waited in line for an hour, and walked out with my new 16G iPhone! This is in Boston. I guess it's harder to get one in Cali.

I waited outside my local Apple store on the 11th

I got shafted waiting at my local AT&T on launch day and the next morning. Headed to the Apple store about an hour away and waited for a couple hours and barely scored a white 16GB.....I think they had 3 or 4 left after I got mine.
