Luckily my work bought mine for me. Because while I could afford the $4k laptop, I wouldn't spend my hard earned money on it. There's a lot of things I'd buy before this. Though I do like it.

Paid around ~2500

So the average American is in credit card debt out his/her/their ***, yet EVERYONE in this forum paid cash or paid off their CC right after purchasing a MBP. Uh, huh. :)

Used Barclays card - Wife and I saved up the $ but opted to apply for a Barclays card and was rewarded in nice iTunes gift cards after a month or two after the MBP purchase. We continue to use the Barclays card (and the rewards) for iCloud storage/music subscriptions.

Usually in full with a credit card I get points on.

I rarely finance any purchases. I pay off all CC every month. I like getting a free loan from the CC company, and getting called a parasite by the CC CEO for doing so:p.

I have the Barclays card from my 2011 MBP purchase so when i got a 2016 i used it again and payed it off in four months (they also raised my credit limit the second I purchased it, like they are saying, “maybe you should get the 15” instead” haha). I use my Barclays card for all my Apple purchases including my monthly iCloud, news+, and music subs to get the rewards points.

You assume the average American is buying a MacBook Pro.

Sales figures do not support that assumption. In North America the sales are HP - 30%, Dell - 24%, Lenovo - 14%, Apple 12%. And that is for all Apple laptops. I suspect they sell a lot more MacBooks and Macbook airs than Macbook Pros. So the MBP owners are small group, and lot are companies.

Hello

I bought it with my debit card and had a discount from my company, around 10 or 15%. It’s called Entreprise Plan Program I think.

All electronics go on the Amex charge card. The extra warranty is invaluable, especially since it stacks with Apple Care.

Are all Amex cards covered? Or only certain ones like the Gold or whatever
All, I have a basic Amex card and I get extra warranty. There are other credit cards that also offer a similar service, so you if you don't want amex, you can search out another card

That’s pretty awesome. Do you know if this includes an Amex issued by other companies like Wells Fargo?

All of their cards will give you warranty extension. The Platinum and Centurion cards will offer greater theft protection. Platinum is covered to $10,000 per theft. The Centurion has no limit. I had to file twice in the last 9 years. Once for a Leica camera theft and another time when a car was stolen. They refunded me the costs of both items. I would never ever buy a high ticket item unless it was on the Black card. Amex is the best in my opinion.

All Amex cards have these protections, but the dollar values get bumped up a fair bit on the Platinum and Centurion cards. You can review the terms for other cards @ Amex.

Yeah I only purchase electronics and expensive items on my Amex. I have had to make a few claims over the years and Amex has been super easy to deal with. I had to make a small claim on my Visa protections once and Visa denied a purchase protection claim as their purchase protection only covered stuff like "wind damage" or something nonsensical.

I paid for mine with credit card, that gave me a free nine month delayed payment plan with no interest (since I didn't have all that cash by hand right there and then and I know even in worst case I would be able to pay that down by that time), plus a 4% bonus on the purchase that I could use in a specific store that my card have a cooperation with.

Yes I tend to opt for my black card as well when buying high ticket items. Kidding lol.

How'd you get one? I heard it's not that easy

I had a 10% coupon and 24 month financing offer from BestBuy, so that's how I paid this time around. It was a good deal.
