How do I delete files in use?!

Under the Finder menu, use 'Secure Empty Trash'. But I think the option click does this anyway.

It takes a while longer if there is a lot of stuff though.

Thanks for writing the program!

My "going nuts" comment was my reaction to the noise coming from the disk as the script deleted 50GB of stuck files. If you have ever deleted that much information, you know the noise I'm talking about... if not, let's just say you know that there is a whole lot of data disappearing of one of your hard drives.

Dear all, i have tried the above solutions and am unable to delete the file
here is what i have done...and i have no coding experience!!! please help as these files are such a pain!

You made a little typo there. The "-rf" part are the arguments that have to be separated from the command ("rm") by a space.

Run this:

sudo rm -rf /Volumes/MFR_Misheto/.Trashes/501/LAST\ NEMISA\ COMPUTE

Hello Luis, this did not work for me the file is still running....I have even tried to stop it in the activity monitor....
Any suggestions?
