How do they not have any pencils at launch? SMH

My iPad feels so naked. Ordered all 3 things for pickup just after midnight, but the store didn't get my pencil or Smart cover in yet. (Nov 19-27 est. delivery)

Feels so weird not having a cover or anything for the pro. All they had was the iPad yesterday - no accessories of any kind. I love the iPad so far, but like so many others have said, the Pencil was a big attraction, especially for art majors. Curious to see if they surface tomorrow.

I wonder if midnight PST will bring a fresh batch of Pencils for in-store pickup?

I see that they took off the ability to see if they have iPad Pro and the Pencil in stores nearby you. I guess they don't want you to see all the stores nearby you as being out of stock.

I told her how unfair it is for those of use that preordered at 3:00 AM to be put in line half a day behind other preorders. I was told that once the items come in, she will call me and will hold the Pencil and the Smart Keyboard. I heard they will ship later next week. This was just as bad as the Apple Watch launch.

Me too! Same story. Me not nice about it. The pencil did come in for pickup Thursday. And the cancelled KB order is being fixed for me to pick up Friday.
Funny thing: for my trouble Apple sent me a digital coupon PROMO CODE for $15-$30-$45 off $100-$200-$300 ONLINE ONLY purchase BUT NOTHING APPLE-BRANDED. $&#%!

There is a lot of definition for available.

Sure, it is available to order right now isn't it?
Or maybe available means it's available to be picked up in SOME store,
Or MAJORITY of the stores,
Or be shipped within 24 hours,
Or to be picked up in all stores?

It's not just a pen in the same way your iPhone isn't just a phone. If you're going to try to debase something, you're going to have to do better than using "just" and actually give valid points.
 
Bit the bullet and ordered one for mid December delivery. Hopefully the stores will have stock before then.

Sorry for the delay, have been busy all day. I live in Long Island NY. I ordered my pencil and keyboard to Manhasset NY, and my ipp to Garden City NY. They are within 5 miles of each other.

This is what Apple told Mashable:

"Customers are very excited for iPad Pro, Apple Pencil and the Smart Keyboard,” an Apple spokesperson told Mashable. “We have limited supply of Apple Pencil and the Smart Keyboard in Apple Retail stores. Our stores will continue to receive regular shipments and we encourage customers to visit Apple.com for online availability and delivery dates.”

So I guess check stores every day as new shipments will be coming in? Perhaps Apple is prioritizing physical stores over online and that's why online is showing 4-5 week delay?

Apple's statement basically said nothing.

I surprisingly got an email yesterday at around 6pm saying that my Personal Pickup for the Smart Keyboard was available. I had already picked up my iPad Pro on launch day. Went to the store and got the keyboard. The guy that checked me out didn't even know that they had gotten them in! I'm going to call some stores today and ask about the Pencil...

I'm in Fairfield County, Connecticut btw...

I agree, so I picked up the Logitech cover instead and will return the Smart Cover when it comes in. Apple may not be pleased with all the returns in early January...it's gotta cost them!

I really kinda like the lighted keyboard...kudos to Logitech for getting stuff out on time.
 
How is everyone putting orders in for personal pickup; when I click buy online it only shows shipping as an option. Am I missing something?
 
Has anyone in any country had a purely online Pencil order enter a dispatching process yet?

After Wednesday, the UK Apple stores I have called say they haven't received a single further pencil.

These are people who on initial preorder were able to get them. Then when they got their iPad picked up they weren't available.
 
This was a big mistake I think. The Pencil could have been enough to convince some people to keep the Pro instead of return it. They should really have bundled the Pencil with the Pro or at least have enough available to let people get them the same day as purchase of the Pro. Apple is capable of better launches and this was another disappointment.
 
I visited the two Apple-Stores in in Hamburg/Germany, and both just had demo-pencils. The employees said they got 10 Pencils for in-store sale on Wednesday, and were suprised the pencils came so early. Of course all sold immediately. Now they say new pencils can arrive each day, but i dont´t believe. Some customers we´re upset because of the lack of pencils - and I´m too.
