How do you carry your headphones?

I use V-Moda Duos and they came with a small pouch. I keep them in the pouch and it fits in my pocket with the iPhone.

I recommend not putting headphones in the same pocket as the iPhone if they are loose. The plug can be surprisingly sharp and can scratch the iPhone.

A better idea

Why doesn't someone make a case that comes with retractable headphones. You pull it out when you need it like a tape measure. When you're done, snap, it magically recoils and disappears. Whaddya think?

Patent it.

I just got some Shure SE210 to replace some Bose In Ears, and I love them, but that is a bit OT.

I used to wrap the the Bose around my iPod, and I went through 5 pair from the cable becoming dislodged from the connector. They actually replaced them all for free. I never used the case because it was a bit to bulky.

Now, I fold the Shures in half until they fit into their zipper case. They have a nice, thick cord, although it is heavy, so I am not worried about them as much. I think the folding is the best way I have found so far.

Well they need to make retractable headphones that actually are awesome to hear from. Ones that are made now are interesting (the best I've seen are from brookstone), but not sound quality filled like the V-Modas, and I have never heard of a headset that is retractable. Plus the ability to retract is messed up because you have to "pull" on it just right...as in you have to pull on both sides then let go correctly so both sides simultaneously go in. I think they designed it like that to last longer. Frankly they just suck

Found this neat little case on the web. Best thing since...

Koss and Sony already have such cases. I don't know if they still make them, but about eight years ago, I owned a pair of both. It didn't have a retractable spring; you had to wind it yourself, but it was really quick and easy.

I give them to my girlfriend and she keeps them in her purse. When I want them, she's voice-activated; I just say "Hey babe, can I have my headphones?" She even unwinds them for me. Lol. Just kidding. I use a small headphone pouch that came with a set of Sony headphones that I bought a few years ago. It's about 1.5 inches by 1.5 inches and as thin as two pieces of cloth.

I take the headphone cords, fold them together (in halves), then in half again and again until I feel they are small enough to be slid into my pocket. :)

Great idea! :)

If you collect the ear wax from them each day, over the course of a year, you can make a set of candles. Spray them with potpouri, and you can save money on a mothers' day present. You can even tell her you made it yourself. :D

I don't use Apple's headphones so I put mine in my Shure case that came with my headphones. Plenty of room for the mic adaptor and the headphones in there.

But honestly I don't use my iPhone for music much it's more of a backup iPod on long trip's when the Touch has died.

just got one of these off ebay. Only a couple of quid for two and do the job nicely:

I got myself one of these as well for like $2 or $3 (in black) and used it for a bit... however, i find that the tight winding around the fish makes for very annoying wires when you unwind them to use, so I eventually got tired of wrapping and unwrapping around it and just wrap it around 2 fingers and stick it in my pocket

metal can

I simply use a snus can (snuff, or skoal, to Americans; I think). just roll up the headphones and drop them in. I can even fit my iPod shuffle in as well.

Why all this fuss about putting em away and pulling them out again?

I don't put them away at all! Instead, I will pull them out of my ears and then reach behind my neck and wrap one earbud around the other (like you do in the first step of tying your shoelaces), then I just let them drape over my shoulders. The other end is just fine staying in your iPhone. If you do need to pull em out of the phone though, it's not problem. Just take the 3.5mm connection and stuff the slack into a pocket. No tangles, it's easy to connect back up to the iPhone, and when you are ready to put the earbuds back in all you have to do is grab each line and gently pull them apart until they unravel themselves and the earbuds slip into each hand. Done.

It's a good method, I'm going to use it sometimes although it may not be appropreate in meetings

Resurrecting this old thread. My Bose QC 15 was just delivered today. Very impressed with it, but I've heard they are somewhat delicate. I'm wondering if people who use the Bose-supplied case keep the cord plugged in, or if it would be better to unplug the cord.

Thanks,
Greg

How do you carry your headphones? I used to wrap them around my iPod, but that's not very practical on the iPhone as I need to use the iPhone even when I'm not using the headphones. Do you have any clever suggestions besides getting an external carrying case?

You can somehow rap them around your neck :) lol

never knew there was a science to headphone carrying... xD lol

I just throw mine in an empty pocket by itself and in the other pocket I carry my iphone.

Wallet goes in back pocket and keys go in backpack (perks of being a student) :)

I Shove them into my Pocket....they tend to get damaged after a month or so, then i replace them using my friends iPhone 4 warranty

I usually put them in my shirt pocket rolled up since i usually wear a button up shirt but if not i just put them in my left pocket of my pants.
