By plugging in the cord.

@thread

I'll charge the phone whenever I get the chance to leave it on the charger for more then fifteen minutes.

+1 on this. I have a charger by my recliner at home, a charger at work, and a car charger. If I'm not using it, I'm charging it. A fully charged 4S is a happy 4S. :D

Not much reason to do that with the great battery life of the 4S. Not like the RAZR MAXX or anything, but still pretty good.

When I'm off work I charge it at night. When I'm working it stays plugged in. My car has an iPod input and it stays plugged in playing pod cost during most of my 12hr shift.

My 3GS on iOS 6 lasts the whole day, and I charge it at night.

Same here with my 4. I've only had it a week, but it's only come close (<10%) to dying once, and that was after playing multiple games of golf and baseball (probably 2 or so each) while sitting around at night.

I'm fortunate in that I get to use my phone almost all day at work. I agree that the battery life is good, but drains fairly fast when you're on the Internet and listening to music for hours at a time.

charge when it needs it, and every night. I don't care what it does to the battery. I will be selling it within a year. I have a Samsung SG2 now, but I do the same with my iPhones I had in past. When the new one comes out, I will do the same again.

Yeah, but to plug it in whenever there's power? That's insane. If you just plug it in for a little while during the day, it should be fine.

Our phones stay in their docks/cradles all the time we are at home, including overnight.
This way, i'm always at 100% when i leave. :)

Haha. I feel like I'm having to defend my charging habits to you. I tried to be polite the first time you commented on it. You're not around me during the day, therefore you don't know 1. How much I use it 2. How much I charge it. My original post was made kind of tongue in cheek. I merely try to keep it topped off whenever possible, I guess it stems from my borderline OCD. I do appreciate your concern though. ;)

I usually go a whole day without needing to charge so every other day I charge mine which usually gets down to 10% or so when I do. If I'm using it more I'll charge it if I got my charger next to me. The battery life in an iPhone is way better than any android I own or have seen.

No fixed answer for this. When it hits 20% I charge it asap. Sometimes, when I am too busy, it gets empty too, 0%. I also oftentimes charge it overnight.

My phone is almost constantly charging:

- At night, on my night stand
- During my commute, I use it for music, so it's plugged into my car's integrated system
- At work, I keep it plugged into my computer via USB

I don't think I've ever let it go past 20% except for a couple times. Launch-day iPhone 4. Battery seems to be holding up just fine.

I'm just stating that it makes no sense to constantly be topping off unless you are going to be away from power for a long time later on in the day. And even then, one top-off should do.

Yes, I know it will top it up at regular intervals. Which is what I meant with keeping it at 100%. Bottom line being that lithium based rechargeable batteries don't like to be at near full charge, and keeping them topped up for four hours or so each night will diminish the battery's max capacity much more quickly than taking it off immediately when charged. Or better even, when not fully charged. Especially if you **** around with the phone 6 hours a day and deplete the battery close to completely on a regular basis. I don't make this stuff up. They're facts.

Facts or not... I have plugged my phone in all night every night since i bought it over two years ago (there have been occasional days of heavy usage bringing the batter under 10% and only once did it completely run out). There has been ZERO, let me repeat that, ZERO difference in my battery life. Or if there has been, it is so small and insignificant that I have not been able to notice it.

I understand that there are multiple articles about battery life and what actions may or may not affect it. For me, personal experience trumps all of them, and I see no reason to change my habit of overnight charging.

Wait another week and it'll only last you an hour[sarcasm]…lol
It's funny to see all these folks act like its a huge deal that some of us charge our phone differently...really?? Its not the end of the world, and if I mess up a battery charging it wrong, I think they sell more of them...last I checked anyways.

I don't think it's very likely that there's a near zero capacity difference on a two year old battery that has 400-600 cycles on it. Is your phone jailbroken by any chance? A batteryinfolite screenshot would give us a pretty accurate indication of how healthy your battery actually is.

Anyhow, regarding the mildly sarcastic remarks directed my way, I'm not trying to be a smart-ass or look like an expert. The OP asked for specifics, and all I did was share some common knowledge on consumer li-ion batteries. Stuff that anyone can look up. If that induced cognitive dissonance, or offended anyone in any way, I apologize.

Sorry, no offense intended with my "sarcasm." I was trying to put my personal experience up against what appeared to be conflicting information from the Apple website that was posted and the information you referenced.

Also, not jailbroken. I can't post the info from the app you mentioned. :(
