How do you cut your sandwich?

This thread has made me so hungry.

I think I will be different today and cut it diagonally. :)

There was no option for "Depends on the mood." I'm inconsistent when it comes to cutting the sandwich, but I primarily diagonal just for aesthetics.

Here's the obvious answer: If a knife was involved in the production of the sandwich (tomato, onion, etc) I'll cut the sandwich in half. If no knife was used, I'm not going to dirty a knife.

2 or three, mostly i don't cut my sandwhiches at all, but with my son i cut them diagonally.

Pssh... sandwich cutting? That just causes more leakage around the edges...

Personally, I can't stand cutsy little kids (sorry) that refuse to eat the crust or want their sandwiches cut... I apologize, but raising your kid and allowing them to be that picky is the reason why the entire world hates Americans.

No need to apologize, I think kids are far, far too picky. And they can certainly cut their own damn food. But there is an actual health reason for cutting the sanwhich. It results in smaller bites, and that in turn improves digestion. As for the crusts, I completely agree. And my first post made fun of this habit.

My mom would never cut off the crusts.... would tell us that's where all the nutrients are. Ha ha ha! The things we tell children to get them to do something they don't want to do. Oh, and she also told us that cutting crusts was wasteful. That point certainly has more validity, I think.

Yeah. I never got the crusts cut off either. It was really a WTF moment for me when I was over a friends house and saw it done.

Diagonally.

But... sometimes I'll make a "swiss roll" out of a jam or peanut butter sandwich (only one slice of bread), just because it's more fun that way :D

Real hungry = no cutting
Sorta hungry = no cutting
Company present and being nicey = diagonal
What would Emily Post say?

Usually I don't make double decker sandwiches at all, and single deckers aren't necessary to cut, for the most part... but whenever I make double deckers and want to cut it all depends on the bread... and my mood...

Squarish, sandwich type bread I most often cut diagonally, while round/elliptic or rectangular loafs of bread I usually just cut across or don't cut at all...

Now I'm hungry... I wonder what to make...?
