I also have a deep down feeling that I'm rather boring, which is hugely ironic as I was always known as a chatterbox and around my friends I'm usually the one who directs conversation I just feel like I'm talking about the same old crap that no one particularly cares about even though they give the impression that they do.
We all talk about the same old crap. You just notice yourself doing it.

Which puts you one up on the rest of us

I'm not really happy with my appearance. Even losing 30kgs and being normal weight now hasnt made me any happier. I suppose I like that I have reasonable intelligence and thats about it

For what it's worth, having had a peek at your Myspace profile, I think you look great ;-)

Personally, the only area of my life I'm reasonably happy with is my professional life. I spent many years striving to achieve certain ambitions in the hope that once I did, my own personal self-confidence would increase and I would feel good about myself. Unfortunately, it hasn't happened and I still feel the same way I did before.

A big part of how you feel about yourself I guess is down to how others feel about you - being single, as in my case, can itself be a killer of confidence. That, in turn, makes it harder to get the courage to go out there and change things for the better - it's a vicious circle.

I've never liked myself; I've always been my own worst enemy. If a little kid was chasing his/her ball out into the street and was about to get run over by a truck, I wish I could be the one to push them out of the way at the last second. Everyone would then think of me as a hero; someone who gave their life willingly for the purpose of saving someone else's. Maybe I'd even be on the fricking national news.

Macdrive, you can help an awful lot of people without having to do something so dramatic. Having recognition for what you do doesn't matter, and if you're happy with that I think you might find you're more comfortable with yourself. You could always give it a whirl; what have you got to lose?
