I don’t use 3D Touch at all, but I know I should. One thing that would be helpful for me is to understand how you all use 3D Touch.

Please share, what do you use 3D Touch to do?

I use it for the cursor when typing and also frequently use it to get to the app switcher (8+)

Other than the cursor, I only use it for 1Password to quickly launch into search mode

  • Moving the cursor around.
  • Quick destination to preset location on waze/google maps.
  • Quick app launch on the "launch" app.
  • New note

moving the cursor when typing
launching private mode in safari from the homescreen

that's pretty much it

I use 3D Touch an awful lot. Here are a few of my uses.

I use it with the phone app to get to my favorites
I use it with my email client to quickly get to a new email
I use it with the settings app to quickly get to Wi-Fi to change SSID's
I use it with my weather app to quickly see the temperature
I use it with Google maps to quickly route to work or home

3D Touch is a godsend for productivity. I use for moving the insertion point, Quick Actions on app icons: Phone, Mail, Safari, Music, Weather, Messages, Notes, Reminders, Calendar. Use Pop and Peek a lot in Mail and Safari links. Use it in Music to download songs or to remove songs. iMessage effects, of course.

Also useful in the Phone app when hard pressing the green dial button.

I use it for pretty much anything. Quick app menu access, pagination, browser features, e.g. copying a photo or URL, the list goes on. I love 3D Touch.

I use it for cursor movement and to open a tab in the background for later reading, if I’m on a site with lots of links and I just want to finish the article. Also use it for getting to the battery settings quickly.

I’ve decided every time I go to do ANYTHING on my phone, I’m going to try Force Touch as a first step and see if it saves me time. I don’t use it all, but know it would make me much more efficient.

To move the cursor when typing. That's pretty much all I use it for and it's a great feature for that alone.
It’s ok for that, but you should be able to move the curser left or right on all iOS devices by dragging your finger over the space bar like on the old next keyboard.

Really? Because in past discussions, you completely bashed 3D Touch and called it a "Gimmick" and "Useless." And now all of a sudden it's a Godsend? Could you please elaborate more on the polar opposite posts listed below. Genuinely curious here.

Thank God. I hate gimmicks like 3D Touch. Literally useless. Things we manipulate with touch don’t need pressure sensitivity. And 3D Touch actions do not aid in productivity.

Another gimmick like 3D Touch and iMessage effects. Samsung would never have thought of this. And Google is probably laughing at such a gimmick

I use it a lot. The problem with 3D Touch is you never know what works with it and what doesn’t. The UI doesn’t give you an obvious clue it is available other than by accident

With that being said, I use it a billion times to short cuts in the go home screen to dial my gf, go to work on go home on
Waze icon, multi tasking, mouse courser (like in this post... make corrections), checking off reminders on the home screen, 1Password coping passwords). The first 5 to me are invaluable and I use the most per day and I will miss it if I use other iPhone models that doesn’t support it. Heck I wished the iPad supports it.

I really wish they would concentrate on this feature and make it more functional. I want to be able to 3D Touch on the home screen and have more interaction and options available. It should be more useful but Apple hasn’t developed it to its potential imho.

When you 3D Touch safari there should be more options like your top ten websites or last 5 websites. Heck use 90% of the screen to present this information. Also they are lacking consistently in their use of 3D Touch. Such as safari has no graphical images at all but music shows albums. It’s not consistent

3D Touch is pretty cool!

I use it on the Fantastical icon I keep in dock to quickly access New Event.

I use it on the keyboard to move the cursor.

I use it to preview links in Safari without opening the page.

When I want to save an image from Safari, I find it faster to 3D touch and swipe up then to tap & hold.

I use it to access camera and flashlight from the lockscreen on my X, used it a lot to multitask (left edge press) on my 6S.

I use it to watch Live Photos and access additional settings in Control Center.

Live photos!

Apple really needs to get with transitioning the product lines to all 3D touch and move towards supporting all devices to make this feature ubiquitous.

The issue with 3D Touch is manufacturing It on a larger scale model. Tim Cook commented that it was difficult enough to manufacture 3D Touch on the iPhone 6s when it launched, so figuratively speaking, It will be that much more difficult on a product like the iPad. I don't for see 3D Touch expanding beyond the iPhone.

I do, too. I wish it weren’t so buggy on my iPhone X. Often it brings up the accents pop-up, and is just plain slower to invoke than it used to be. Try 3D Touching the S or E or I, or C keys repeatedly, for example.

Same on both my iPhone X and the wife’s.

Typically I only use it to check for app updates. I dont really use it, and often forget it is even there. Basically because it isn’t standardized within all apps.

Those posts have my tongue firmly in cheek, satirizing those who can't see the value in pressure sensitivity UI I suspect because it's an Apple innovation. Samsung uses a flexible panel with curved edges, is innovation. Pressure sensitivity, well that's a gimmick.
