I have decided not to pre-sign, for fear of iPhone theft.

So, how early do I have to wake up tomorrow? I don't want to miss the delivery. It is arriving via UPS, I am in the US, in a suburb of a major city.

I know a lot of people's UPS tracking says "by 10:30 AM", but how much earlier than that might UPS arrive?

My personal guess is 8 AM, but I don't have good data. My reasoning is this: At 7:50 AM, most offices and many residences will not be available to sign for things, so UPS probably doesn't bother attempting that early.

Do I need to wake up at 7 AM to be safe? I don't want to miss it. Also, I will be working from home all day, I realize that it may not arrive until really late - I think 8:45 PM was mentioned by someone on this forum from a past launch day.

Firstly, you can't pre-sign. Even if you are a My Choice UPS member and the package states it has a shipment release Apple's terms override that. Second it depends on the route of your driver and where it starts.

Firstly, you're wrong. If you go to apple.com/orderstatus you pre-sign your order once it's shipped. Know your facts.

What's up with your attitude? I've spoken with them and they said they won't leave it regardless. Whether or not that's accurate, you need to sit down with that smart response.

Generally UPS sets delivery hours between 9 am and 7 pm, although I've had sooner, and later, deliveries. I know my delivery time frame states before 10:30, but I'm not holding my breath yet. It will be a nice surprise if so.

Forget the "by 10:30". That is just standard verbage.

It will get there sometime during the day. Nobody knows.

not sure if the pre-sign is dependant upon location, but i spoke with an apple representative as well and they indded said that they would be accepting the pre-sign forms. however, the made sure to make me fully aware that by using that option that apple nor the courier would be liable for any packages that were stolen or "mis-placed"

I know someone who works as a UPS driver and they will leave it if you have the apple pre-sign form. The reason for this, at least for Apple, is they have special arrangement with the carrier and UPS can do it. Of course it is still up to the driver's discretion, but they are allowed to if they feel it's Ok.

Generically pre-signing for a package, like through UPS MyChoice, they won't do (it mentions it on their site), which is most likely what the person you talked to thought you were referring to.

UPS delivers to my office at a little before 8:15. I suspect as we are one of the first on his route, they must leave the terminal at 8.

Are we all sure they are coming via UPS, my driver says that both UPS AND FedEx will be delivering iPhones tomorrow.

Really depends on where you fall in their delivery schedule respect to your location.

How have you people never ordered something that got delivered by UPS before that you need to ask such a general question?

Funny thing is, I have two coming. One says before 10:30am, the other says by end of business day.

I'm kinda hoping they'll both come before 10:30am...

It depends where you live and how close you are to the commercial routes.

My old residence was near a very commercial area and had several businesses working out of residences. It was upscale for the community. UPS always delivered by noon.

My new house is three miles away in the same zip code. It is completely residential. The homes sell for similar to my old neighborhood. UPS deliveries rarely come before 5 pm and as late as 8:30 pm. The norm is 5:30 pm. It drives me nuts!

My UPS tracking says.

Scheduled Delivery:
Friday, 09/21/2012, by 3:00 P.M.(by end of day for residential deliveries)

Good luck all!

As far as I know, all deliveries from Apple (or upwards of 95% of them) are coming via UPS.

AT&T and Verizon orders (and perhaps Sprint, I'm not sure) are coming via FedEx, as these carriers have long standing agreements with FedEx.

Here's a question: I live in a condo and there is a front office with a manager on duty during business hours. Do you guys know if you leave a note on the front door to please leave the package with the building manager, if UPS would do that? The USPS is fine doing that, and have even allowed the building manager to sign for packages for me that require a signature.

Do I need to call them to arrange that? Thanks to anyone who has experience with this...

This is VERY FALSE! Log into Apple.com > Order Status and next to "Track Shipment" there is a button that saids "Pre-sign For Delivery"

YOU CAN PRE-SIGN. Dont give false info.

UPS delivers for sprint so I expect mine around noon if he has the normal schedule.. Not sure of the iPhone launch effects it.

mine says "before 10:30 AM"

I spoke with UPS chat and they said that you have to ignore that because its not entirely true. (Mine also stated that)

Lower right of UPS.com it says "Live Chat" You can ask for yourself if you would like. :apple:
