They will make every attempt to deliver by the time they commit to, however it's not a guarantee.
My Order got moved up from end of day to 10:30am.

The system is dynamic so the scans and times can change though out the day.

Driver has Final say if package gets left or not.
Driver has Final say if a signature is collected or not.

Driver also takes the heat for delivery screw ups like wrong address, missing authorization.

One errant iPhone won't bring out the national guard or cause the earth to stop spinning.

99% will make it on time. Lees than 1% might take a little longer.

Biggest difference between business and residential.

Business needs drop offs first thing in the morning and pickups by close of business.
Residential drop offs mostly and along committed time routes.

Talked to the UPS person and she said if it says delivers by 10:30 it delivers by 10:30. I mentioned that it was regarding the iPhone as well. Although.. They are probably telling most people this just to shut us up haha! She mentioned they do not know how early the trucks will roll out tomorrow either since it i such a busy day.

I told her "im sure youre getting this question a lot lately" and her response was "yes, we are getting this a lot of our anxious customers." Im sure she was thinking more along the lines of "the iphone customers are so damn annoying!"

I received a UPS package that was next day air today at my house at 2:00 PM. Adjusting the time for tomorrow's fiasco I am assuming my iPhone will be here by 5:00 PM or later on Friday. As long as it gets here tomorrow (my last day of holiday) I will be fine.

You can pre sign. I just got the form from my apple order page.

I know. I did this last year and they circled they slip they left me and underlined something that said I had to be there with a signature. And UPS CS told me that two days ago. I don't know why everyone is trying to argue I'm just stating my experiences.

I'm telling you what I, and other members, have experienced. Period.

No, you're misinterpreting what you and others have experienced.

UPS (and FedEx) absolutely will leave Apple packages at your door, up to the driver's discretion, if you pre-sign using Apple's form. Your claim that they outright won't ever do it is false. It's not only false, but silly.

It requires one to believe that Apple would have a form that does nothing. A form which is only necessary in the first place because of a requirement Apple places on the carriers to begin with. Think about that for a second!

So glad my package from Verizon is coming FedEx. My UPS guy doesn't come around until at least 6PM, sometime even later. One time he came by at nearly 9PM. My FedEx usually comes after noon.

Mine just arrived half an hour ago from TNT Sydney. 21/9 with urgent msg stating it will be delivered earlier.

Black/slate & white/silver 64gb both.
Preordered 3 minutes after the App Store opened on 14/9 at 5:03pm Sydney (12:03am)
Preparing to ship changed to ship status 5 hours ago on 21/9.

Hope yours will too.

Less than 10% of the people will get them before 1030 AM from UPS

This is the straight from a UPS manager

I will be at work tomorrow.
Will UPS give my phone to someone who will be there to open the door or will I have to physically be there to sign it off?

How have you people never ordered something that got delivered by UPS before that you need to ask such a general question?

Probably has something to do with the fact that some people don't have all mail carriers that deliver in their town and all of them are different.... Gets kinda confusing.

Hi. Thanks for the reply and welcome to MacRumors forums. No doubt you’ve discovered this thread via a related Google search.

As a brief piece of advice for a new user, please mind thread and user account dates. I bring it up b/c you’ve revived this thread from 2012 and replied to a user who hasn’t been active in 3 & 1/2 years. Just something to keep in mind.

All the best and welcome to MRF.
