I thought at&t 3G only has 3.6 mbps version as top speed.

But last night I get these internet speed results on my iPhone 3GS.

What is your AT&T speed?

I'm in New York City, so I use Server New York, NY. You should change server closest to your location.

But the point is these result is more than 3.6 mbps. Does AT&T already have 7.2Mbps 3G data in NYC?

Mine is around the same since about a month or so ago.
It used to be around 1.5mb and now its at least 2mb to 3mb on the regural.
I think they said something about they upgraded their speed.

My results on T-Mobile's Edge

25713704.png

don't know wh it says distance 1200 miles though.

Wow, I live less than 200 miles from LA and I cant even get connected to LA's tower, I'm sure I would have way better speeds but no, I get routed to New Mexico

Lucky! I'm only getting 1.18down/0.24up (avg)

I was hoping I'd be getting the Chicago speeds, but maybe they'll bring the higher speeds a bit further north:)

I used to ge 1.0 - 1.2 Mbps regularly but recently I've been seeing 1.7 Mbps as my new average.

I actually hit 2.4 Mbps once the other day, but that seems to be a special tower or something. I've never seen that anywhere else.

Those are Speed-Test's SERVERS for their download tests.

Celular TOWERS only have a range of a few miles. (Somewhere between 5 and 50, depending on where you are.)

I'm at work and was only able to get 649/85 down/up, but my most recent one at home, I got 2438/347 which is the norm. I usually get above 2mbps down at home.

Just in case there are still nonbelievers (aggie), I just did another one.

I think some people in NJ were reporting the got around 7 M down.

In LA I average around 1 M down and maybe .4 M up.

Pretty sad overall. Oh I also tried to update an app and I got an error that said it was over 10 Meg so I would either have to connect to wifi or update it through itunes on my computer. How bogus is it that $30/month data fee won't even let you update an app using 3g?

That is an Apple set restriction, not AT&T.

Sounds like some of u guys ain't getting your 30 bucks/month worth.

Oh I am, I am paying for 10+ dropped calls a day, slow network speeds, and no service in my apartment on campus. I am definitely getting my money's worth.
