I can't complain at all. This is my first iMac, after 20 years of marriage with Microsoft I finally divorced the Cia and married Apple. I couldn't be happier. The computer is great and Apple tech is GREAT! I bought a 27" 2010 model, i7 model for $1,579.00, added 8GH of memory for $75,00.

I couldn't be happier with my 2011 21.5" iMac. It performed great when I purchased it and after upgrading to Lion it still works perfectly.

Wow, I'm sure most of these responses are gunna make people feel positive about buying an iMac.

My question is-

If you're iMac is part of the recall program, when did you buy it? And is it BTO or Stock?

Ordered a BTO 27" iMac (3.4 GHz Quadcore, 4GB RAM, 6970 GPU, 1TB HD/256GB SSD) on 6/19. Arrived with Snow Leopard installed. The HD turned out to be WD, no yellowing on the LCD. Upgraded RAM to 16GB from OWC.

This is the 3rd iMac that I have owned since 2001. Very happy with this beast.

Very happy with it. Got a mid 2010 iMac 271in i3 3.2ghz a couple of weeks ago. It was brand new (never been opened) and the store was selling it to clear so knocked 300+ Euro off. I was going to get the latest 27in base model. But I don't do any gaming, video/photo editing etc so don't need much juice. 300 Euro is a lot and I can get Apple TV, a Time Capsule or whatever with it. Plus they threw in the Trackpad for free. Have also confirmed with Apple now that the purchase date is a couple of weeks ago so fully covered as per normal and have the redemption code for Lion upgrade.

Have not used it as SL is blazing fast and working perfectly and I don't like the myriad of issues I'm reading with Lion. I'll wait until 10.7.1.

Screen is great, no issues there either.

It's really frightening quick. I went from a 2006 Intel iMac 2.0 core duo! I'm on a very good broadband connection, 25MB and the iMac is wirelessly connected to that cable modem. Web pages are loading so quick, it's fantastic. Have watched some HD movies as well and the screen is awesome.

Edit: installed Lion and it's even better now! even quicker.

I love mine. I got the base 21.5" iMac a couple of weeks after it was released. It is my first iMac after a 2009 MacBook Pro (still have), 2007 MacBook, and older desktops (B&W G3, etc). I haven't had any problems and the screen is beautiful and sharp.

I needed a larger screen and felt like the upgrade to the quad-core i5 and Thunderbolt would give me a few more years of use than if I had bought the refurb base 2010 iMac or simply added an external monitor to my MacBook Pro. I plan to upgrade the RAM at some point for smoother running of a Windows 7 VM alongside Lion and perhaps an SSD down the road.

Bought mine recently. No complaints. I was rushed for time so didn't get a chance to inspect screen at purchase. But got home and had no dead pixels and no yellow tint issue. I guess I can kind of convince myself that there might be some slight variation in the screen, while doing the screen test. But if you have to do the screen test multiple times and talk yourself into seeing an issue that you aren't really sure is there, then you don't have the yellow tint issue. I've never worried about tint issues during normal use.

I did the same thing, ran the screen test a number of times looking for something that isn't there.

Had mine about 10 days, 27" i7 with SSD, upgraded the memory myself, wife seemed upset that I hadn't noticed that she had hid my Call of Duty for the PS3 for 2 weeks ;-)

Have two iMac's in the house, one being the new Mid 2011 base 21". Love it. ZERO Problems. Quiet and fast. I see no screen tint issues, so as such I have purposely not gone looking for them. (Upgraded to 16 GB by myself from OWC.)

By the way my old 2009 iMac is still running flawlessly as well.

Wow, I hope mine doesn't come with any problems, and hopefully, I won't have to replace the HDD as well :]

I have an early 2009 24" iMac. I'm still very happy with it. Absolutely no issues at all..

Great Mac's those ones. Good for many more years to come. Only reason I got a new Mac recently was because the intel iMac I bought way back in 2006, the HDD died. Never had one issue apart from that and I had everything backed by Time Machine anyway. Could have just replaced the HDD but decided it was time to change. This one will last me years as well. The screen alone means I could just hook up a Mac Mini or another PC if I ever needed more juice or whatever.

Did anyone ever have a G4? That was the one I always wanted. A fantastic looking computer, a genuine game changer.

Title says it all.

Did you have any issues with Yellow Tint? Any other display issues? How many of you have recalled iMacs that you're planning on returning? How is your overall iMac experience?

BTO or Stock? Would be more helpful if you mentioned that too!

Any replies would be appreciated, especially if detailed :p

Edit: Might be worth mentioning that I'm looking for answers from 2011 iMac users in particular, seeing as thats the one I ordered :)

The more I read about yellow tint and the more I see the less inclined I am to accept it exists - controversial I know. However, I have personally been to three monitors now where I was assured this phenomenon exists, two are friends and one a work colleague. Guess what, the screens on all three looked first class to me, not a hint of yellow. One of my best friends is an optometrist and his take on this is that we all see colour differently and that the brain is very good at playing tricks with our perception of colour. Apparently the younger you are the worse the problem. He also said that if you look at any brilliant white surface for to long then you will start to see either yellow spots or a yellow cast.

Yes I had this one. Sorry I sold it to be honest. It was such a cool computer

Happy, but Finder and Window management sucks in comparison to windows. I really miss the task bar and Windows Explorer.

Very happy with mine. 4/5 Just wish they'd get a move on with resolution independence. The text is to small on the 27" display if I change resolution it becomes pixelated. If they sorted this it'd be 5/5 .I'm squinting more than ever good job I've installed windows 7

Curious about your experience...are you saying you would consider the 21.5" monitor if you had to do over again?

Except for the freezing (video issue with Lion), yes. However, the freezing really is a thorn in my side. It's frustrating. Lion should not have been released Lion like this. A .1 fix needs to come fast.

UGH, yes! My early 2011 iMac freezes up multiple times a day because of this. Only fix is a hard reboot.

Aside from that, the machine is a dream. My first iMac (and desktop, for that matter). I got the base model and upgraded to 8gb of ram with crucial.

This is my first desktop Mac, i have MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.

i Love my iMac, and looks great on my desk aswell. Plus, every game on 27" suddenly becomes awesome again :D

I love my iMac. I have the new 21inch. Store and does everything I need it too. Video editing, video ripping and gaming. Love it

Love my 21.5 2.7ghz version.

Looks beautiful on the desk, runs like a top, and haven't had any issues. The only thing I am worried about is my hard drive possibly failing seeing as I got the email from Apple stating I could have a defective one. I don't have an Apple store or service center near by so I am running it until (if) it fails. I wish they would let me send it in but they won't.

I have the 2011 27" stock iMac and I loved it.

However, once installed Lion, just many problems.

The one above and also freezes with my external hard drive where I have to unplug it to get it working again.

With that said, with SL it was just amazing.
SO I can't wait til a few 10.7.X releases come in the next few months when Lion really comes out roaring!

Hey I totally agree with you but about that RAM upgrade?

I am looking to do the same.
Do you have a guide for it somewhere? Was it easy??

Thanks in advance
