Mate, they done more than "just add a new connector". The A6X destroys the A5X in terms of raw performance power. While Geekbench scores measure potential, a difference of 1000 points isn't to be taken lightly.

As you rightly say though, the performence on iPad models in general when it comes to iOS 7 is concerning. It's certainly not 100% optimised but hopefully 7.0.1 will address that.

Normal users couldn't care less about benchmarks on a processor though.

I mean, its not like the iPad 3 was sluggish. All they really do see are the tangibles (which happen to include a new connector)

Mostly stable on my iPhone5 (DFU "new phone" install), however I've crashed the Settings app and Springboard though I can't reproduce either crash. Those diagnostic logs will find their way over to Apple on their own.

Some animations are choppier than I would expect from Apple. An example is the share sheets in the Photos app. Attempt to share an image to a service you have not set up yet (i.e. Flickr) and you'll see what I mean.

Battery life seems about on par with their advertised 10 hours; it lost about 12% per hour yesterday after install and subsequent excessive use. :)

"Show Preview" seems to be slightly broken for notifications, or perhaps the observed behavior is the intended behavior and if so the wording for this option should be tweaked. If "Show Preview" is disabled, previews are still visible in NC when the phone is unlocked; with "Show Preview" disabled, previews are never visible in banners/alerts regardless of phone lock state, and likewise not visible in NC when the phone is locked (assuming "Show on Lock Screen" is enabled). In other words, disabling "Show Preview" turns off previews on the lock screen, and banner/alert previews when unlocked, but leaves unlocked NC previews visible.

In any case, a day with iOS7 GM so far and it's a welcome change. Looking forward to third-part app updates!

want to make it crash doing a simple ordinary task?

go to the video folder, select some videos and delete them, nothing will occur then re-select them for deletion and boom goes the dinamyte... crash

We needed more betas clearly before a GM

Normal users don't care, correct ... until they see the difference in performance. One iOS update later and visual effects are being removed from the build. That's not good.

As I said, while benchmarks show raw power and performance potential I again stress that a gain of over 1000 points is not something to be dismissed lightly. It proves the power and longevity IS there.

The iPad 3 sadly was underpowered for what it was required to do. From blur effects in iOS 7 to frame rate gulfs in games, the iPad 3 is being left behind. And as developers focus more on the latest chips and begin to utilise that potential the gulf will only increase sadly.

For iPad 3 to remain usable I would stress to remain on iOS 6.

Didn't crash for me...the videos were deleted, the preview pane just still shows them after I deleted them. Selecting the preview pane simply brings up the next video in line.

Yes..neds to be fixed to show that the video has actually been deleted, but no "boom goes the dynamite" for me...

Must say - SUPER fast on iPhone 4!

I just noticed it's still loading my iCloud photos... and that is making my cpu stay at 100%... so I've been using it with the CPU being hammered, and it is still smooth.

Impressed

after deletion (when nothing happens) try reselecting them and clicking detele again, that should do it

iPhone 5 is perfect.

IPad 3 faster than b6, but still has some occasional animation stutters. Annoying, but stable.

Both were quick and dirty b6->gm upgrade installs.

Running brilliantly on my 5. Only bug I've noticed is in mail, when adding text to a photo attachment, the letter you're typing in disappear occasionally, yet are still registered and still show up when you stop.

Big fan of iOS 7 thus far, makes up for the crushing bore that was iOS 6, and I'm (so far) not regretting giving up my jailbreak in the slightest.

Only things I don't like are the volume notification when you go up/down - it's extremely intrusive - and the white/transculent status bar and play/pause controls look terrible when watching a video in Safari.

So far, it's working faster than I thought it would on my 4S. It lags in a few places and seems like the battery may be draining a tad faster. Though...I am playing with a lot of stuff right now.

The only thing that has really been worrisome is when I do a screen shot, the audio is wonky. Like a robot is dying. lol. It definitely wasn't doing that before I upgraded to iOS7. I will install the public release and hope it goes away. I rebooted a few times but it's still making the robo-death sound. :(

Otherwise...I REALLY like the new Photo layout and grouping. It's outstanding. Taking a bit of getting used to navigating through it but it does a great job of organizing photos.

Here's my feedback on iOS 7 GM.

It's running like butter on my iPhone 5...and I updated from iOS 6.1.4 without a clean install. Battery life seems...normal. There are apps that crash but that's why they haven't been updated to iOS 7. But yeah really good on my end

Very smooth on my iPhone 5

Very poor performance on my iPad 3, iPad mini and iPhone 4s.

This has been exactly my experience. So much so I ditched it on the iPad3 and am now gun-shy, just looking to keep it on 6.1.3 until I am secure the slow rendering of opening apps/pages has been fixed.

Very disappointing to see this and lots of similar comments on here about the iPad 3 today. How can they allow it to be that bad, the iPad 3 is barely 18 months old and lets face it, if they hadn't opted to refresh it 7 months after it was released just to include the new connector then this model would have only just been replaced a few months back. I'm still going to upgrade mine when I get home this evening, hopefully it won't be too bad. I'm peeved to hear its so shocking on the iPad tho, guess they were too busy worrying about getting it right for the iPhone 5S/5C.

From what I've heard, it's not very smooth on the iPad 4 either. iOS 7 generally doesn't work very well on iPads. Not as well as on the iPhones.

Overall really smooth on my 4. I have noticed battery is worse than previously with jailbreak. My theory is that it's because 3rd party apps not optimized for iOS7 and they drain more battery compared to stock apps like safari..

iOS 7 is running perfectly for me and I haven't encountered a single bug, crash or laggy animation. It's definitely the best ever mobile operating system by a wide distance.

Mine has just gone to hell overnight, set a reminder... and ever since my battery has just drained non stop - even after removing all my accounts, iCloud and rebooting.

Kind of lost for words really... can't be bothered to restore to iOS7 to fix it... if I can't fix it, I'll just go to iOS6 again

On my iPhone 5 it runs just fine. However on my iPad 2 it's rubbish, so I restored it back to iOS 6.

Excellent! Battery life seems great as well. I'm on 94% and I'd usually be on less by now. Not sure if my usage pattern has been different today or not.

To those of you saying the animations are slower compared to iOS 6. Today I made a video to compare the animation speeds between the two. I don't see any marginal difference. If there's one it's a matter of milliseconds.

iOS 7 is clearly faster. Ofcourse not by much in absolute seconds, but relatively speaking the difference is significant.
