So far it's been pretty awful. I've had one kernel panic already while streaming video from wireless. Everytime I unplug a headset from the phone the music app opens and starts playing some random song at full volume.

The overall OS does seem a little sluggish. The Phone app seems a bit twitchy at times. Call quality seems OK.

An hour after I upgraded, my first incoming call from a PB contact showed ONLY the red hang-up icon while it was ringing. Subsequent calls have been fine.

I may have to do a backup and full wipe if these problems keep showing up.

PS. Apple rushed this iOS update out the door. Never, ever do that!

Not really sure how they rushed it given that it's been in beta, and even public beta for a while.

Umm, because they wanted to release it by a certain date and time to push their Apple Music launch.

Just because something has been in beta doesn't mean it's stable enough for release. Even beta users have reported that Apple didn't fix some of the known Beta bugs with the final release.

I haven't had a random kernel panic with an iPhone since iPhone 4 -- that tells me a lot right there...

Take in mind that every device is different. We all may have iPhones, but every device is different in how it handles things.

Well, a single user experiencing a kernel panic doesn't make for a buggy release on its own. Even a few users experiencing some slowdowns or something odd after an update doesn't necessarily mean that either.

And just because there was a date to meet doesn't mean on its own that it was rushed as clearly quite a bit of time was spent in the beta phase.

Updated my 4s and have had no issues*.

*(Reduce Motion and Increase Contrast are turned on and most everything else is turned off: No Spotlight, no Background App Refresh, no Apple Music, Connect etc.)

Smooth download, all apps working and my music is where it's supposed to be. I decided to pass on Apple Music. No issues with performance or browser on my iPhone 6.

I didn't vote but used iOS 8.4 for a day and everything worked fine except for the new Music App....just hated the new Music App UI (cover art keeps getting smaller, recently added takes up 1/2 screen space, too much other wasted space then on top of that I noticed a drop in battery by just using Music App like I normally do everyday which I never got from iOS 8.3 so since I won't ever be using the Apple Music Subscription I downgraded back to 8.3 before Apple stops signing it.

Since I'm back on iOS 8.3 using the Music App I'm reminded again how much white there is, the one thing I will say that I like about the Music App in 8.4 was they replaced all that white with a blending of how your cover art photo is, meaning when you brought up an album and it shows you all the tracks for that album it takes the cover art for that album and makes a blend of the colors so if the cover art has a darker color you will get a darker themed color pallet as your background. With the Music App from 8.3 is just all white can you say bright white lol. Of course the lock screen is still the same black background for the Music App on both verisons 8.3 and 8.4. There just wasn't enough positives for me to keep 8.4 regarding the Music App so I downgraded to 8.3 while there is still time.

I've been using it since release day. Def buggy, my iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6plus both get orientation issues, going from portrait to landscape or vise versa. Also webpages seem to not like to load and I get the "an error has occurred and the page was reloaded" messages.

For reasons of security and bug fixes, you should update again to 8.4 and decline Apple Music. My wife and I did and our phones are working as expected. I did notice that scrolling is smoother and I have tested every app I have and all works as it should.

So far I'm a little disappointed, I voted the middle option. Some of us are experiencing a screen rotate bug on the iPad Air 2 (and maybe other iPads).

Plus I really don't like the omission of Home Sharing in the music app. It just another step of Apple moving closer to being a subscription based company entirely. You'll have your cell phone bill, your electric bill, car payment, Apple bill, mortgage,......

I don't really use the apple music app so I'm not running into many issues. 8.4 is treating me well battery-wise! Typically at 50% I would be at 3 to 3 and a half hours of use, this is a huge improvement.

Disaster.
iPhone 6. Tmobile.
Phone is practically bricked.

Phone is able to boot. Is able to run apps. However.
- iMessage won't even load. Goes to a white screen, then after 10 seconds crashes and goes back to home screen.
- CANNOT MAKE PHONE CALLS!!! I go to the phone app, tapping favorites doesn't do anything. Pressing keys on the keypad doesn't do anything. Unable to make a phone call.
- Phone runs VERY hot, like its burning up. This is definitely damaging my battery.
- My Apple Watch won't talk to it any more. Weather starts spinning then says unlock iPhone. But the phone is already unlocked. Doesn't transfer my Activity information and apparently its lost. Same with built in Stocks app. Most other apps just spin. Nothing works there any more.

If I reboot the phone, it works for a while until the above problems start again.

I also have an iPad Air and iPhone 5 that I also upgraded to 8.4. I have noticed no problems at all with either of those. My iPhone 6 is unusable.

That is definitely not normal. Back up your phone, restore your phone through iTunes, check if everything works okay. Then, put the backup back on and check again. If that screws everything up, you will have to reset and start as new. Something went horribly wrong with either your OS install or your backup.

You're kidding right? Apple is a closed system. They control everything. This is a very bad sign. This isn't Microsoft with a broken 3rd party driver. If Apple is allowing kernel panics to slip thru their testing then we (as iOS users) have a disturbing future ahead of us!

Yeah this was likely caused by the bad T-Mobile carrier update -- not iOS 8.4. This issue was widely reported before the update was released. I would backup your data and then go to your local T-Mobile store to see what the deal is...

The point I was making is that some weirdness with someone's installation or setup doesn't on its own necessarily imply something inherently wrong in the OS itself.

As far as generalizations about closed systems or software without issues, sure, in a perfect world things would be perfect, the only thing is just that we live in the real world where reality applies.

Furthermore, as more people install each version of iOS, there are more people available to experience bugs and other issues. Those people often come to forums like this to seek advice on their issues, whereas people who experience no issues usually don't take time out of their day to find a forum and tell people that their device works as expected.

As a result, every single iOS update ever looks like a glitchy catastrophe when you browse these forums, when that is far from the case.

(I'm not trying to tell you that, C DM, but I typed that up in response to people who think the sky is falling whenever a new iOS update is released).

iOS 8.4 performs much better on my Air 2 now it's been released officially to the public. The Beta was aOK on my 6 Plus but I have encountered 'This Accessory may Not be Supported' when plugging in a FM Tuner via 30 Pin to Lightning.

A little off topic but which adaptor are you using? I have an fm tuner I'd like to use in a company work vehicle that worked great via on my iPhone 4S.

Toggling Wifi / 3g / LTE to on or off, gives lag. Maybe around 40-60 seconds. Not experienced this in IOS 8.3
