What a difference! Last night after 2 hours still about 7 hours to go...I aborted the whole operation and just logged in again and resumed the download. The remaining 2Gb downloaded in less then 10 minutes.

That's what I call a big difference, 10 minutes or 7 hours! Let the installing fun begins!!!

Got it in about 18 minutes... The download appeared as if though I was moving along at about 3mb per second.

30 minutes on the Blackbook I use at work.. (started downloading about 10 min after it appeared on the App Store)
+-45 minutes on my colleague's MBP at work.. (started downloading about 2h after it appeared on the App Store)
3,5 hours on my MBP at home.. (about 5h after it appeared on the App Store)

So I voted for the '2h+' option.

I had to swap between two internet connections to download it. Took about three hours to download just 700MB on the slower one, and a little over an hour to download the remaining 3GB on the other. Four hours had never felt so long :p

Yesterday morning the first download was 80 minutes. Later in the afternoon it dropped to 30 minutes.

Given Apple moved 1,000,000 downloads yesterday I was pretty happy with my download times.

It took longer to install Lion than download it...

25 minutes for the download
33 minutes for the install -- or at least that's what the progress bar said when it started. I went off and did the dishes.

Has anyone yet tried downloading at an Apple Store? Is it an appreciably faster process?

I have a 12Mbps connection at home.

I downloaded it at home. Worked fine. When i downloaded my second copy later on , on my MBP it was veeeeery slow. Servers were probably jammed at that point.

I have 2MB wireless and it took me 5 painfully long hours... :(

Early in the morning, MacBook Air took 30 minutes to download and another 34 minutes to install. This is on Cox Communications cable. A little later in the morning, I started the process again with the Mac Mini, and it took significantly longer -- 3 1/2 hours to download and again just over half an hour to install. The difference I suspect is due to the later time of the day (more people hitting up the servers) and to the fact that the Mini is positioned further away from the router than the MBA.

Jealous of you FIOS people. About 90 minutes on my MBP, about the same on my Blackbook. I think it depends on what server you are near/using, as it was not maxing out my 8mbps Comcast connection, normally iTunes or most other things do, plus a little bit. It was close though, as the theoretical download time on my connection is around an hour.

Hi, I've been trying to download OS X Lion since yesterday at around 8:15pm, and it has still not downloaded even a slight bit. The bar in my dock is white, which I am guessing is empty! I have tried to pause and resume the download as well as cancelling and re-installing the download, but nothing seems to work!

My internet is a little slow, but surely it shouldn't take this long?!! What shall I do?

Please can someone help?

Thank you

Have you tried restarting your computer. Some people had issues like the one you describe and restarting resolved them.
