A little less than four hours. The line moved very quickly because there were at least 200 people in front of me and I had mine by 6:10. I was really impressed by how efficient the Costa Mesa Apple store was.

I bet no one had a more pleasant ipad 2 purchasing experience than me..

There is a walmart across the street so I got up and walked over there at like 3:50 and at 4:00 I was at electronics putting my name down for what model iPad 2 I want, then I got to walk around the store and come back at 5 to get it. There were 2 people there before me. Sadly they didn't receive any 32gb in stock so I bought a 64gb wifi only in black. They didn't have any 3g either. They had 2 black 16gb, 1 white 16gb, 3 black 64gb, and 1 white 64gb total in the entire store, no Smart Covers sadly but not a big deal. Once it hit 5:00 they had the iPad's by the register with a Paper with what everyone chose. Rang up and I was out of the store at 5:03pm and walked home to play with my iPad 2 :D.

The last 2 people came from a nearby best buy where at 4 there were lines of 150+ lol. This is in south florida by the way. Beat the rush :).

I posted this elsewhere, but I walked in to the local Best Buy around 1:30pm and they had a whole cage full, looked like at least 50 or more just sitting there. Thought it was the ipad 1 at first, til I noticed the front of the box and some in white. Strange thing is, nobody cared, I saw nobody buying or even looking at them. Someone on here says that it shows the store as being sold out online, so maybe the system is screwy and that's why nobody was down there. I'll go back down tomorrow to see if they did sell out today or if they're still sitting there...but I can say that if they did sell out, they must have had a sudden late-day rush.

My wasn't too shabby either...

I had to work, so waiting in line all day wasn't an option for me. What I was able to do was see what info people were posting about the line status at various stores local to my house. At 2:30pm or so, I read a post about a local Target having only 5 of the 16GB black. My priority model is the 32-Black but 16 will do as well.

I left work at 4pm, and I already knew Apple and BB lines were huge so Target and/or Walmart was my only option. After about a 45 minute commute, I call Target right when I exit the freeway where it's located. He says, they only have 5, but only 4 people in line. Once I got off the phone, my heart starts to race, wondering what's the possibility of someone taking that last spot in the next 5 minutes, which is how long it would take to get into the Target parking lot and speed-walking to the electronics counter.

Once I reach the counter at around 4:50pm, I ask them where the iPad line is and if anymore are available. He states, "Well, there's 4 people here and 5 ipads, so you just got the last one!"

...so technically, my total wait was about 20 minutes.

Waited 21 hours, was three in line. One hour before launch there was 870 people in line. This was at the Apple Store at the Gateway in Salt Lake City, Utah.

I got to Best Buy at 4:45 and the tickets had all been given out. Drove over to Target across the street and was the third person in line. Left the store about 10min after 5. :D

I got to Best Buy around 2:30, there was 5 people in line. 15 mins after getting there, about 10 people showed up. At 4:30, there was 30 people in line, and they only had 15 iPads.
