You people are crazy and/or rich.

A new Mac every 2/3 years? 90% of the population keeps their computers for much more than that. After 3 years almost any computer, especially a Mac, is still completely capable. There's no big improvement in performance in 3 years.

And Macs are more expensive every year! Wow. Unbelievable. I've still got my late 2009 27 inch iMac with me and still works like a champ, and I can't see myself justifying a new Mac even after all these years because mine works perfectly and these things cost a fortune.

Many of you must have really really good paid jobs.

Well, it kind of depends. Keep in mind the audience here - mac enthusiasts. Maybe instead of buying parts for a car they’re working on they buy computer hardware. Nbd. I try to upgrade as little as possible but sometimes you just have saved the money and you want the latest and greatest!

Had a pro before but it was like a rock....so moved to 8G ram MBA 13 i7 in 2012...it is still going strong as I have it on el capitan...now I see the beachball once or twice a day....I am sure if I upgrade the OS it will be done....so Im staying on El C till this one croaks.

Im leaning to a 13" MBP nTB next....I expect it to last at least 8 years given the price.

Get the one with the actual usb-c ports

I use my systems for 2/3 years. So my 2015 is due for replacement in 2018. If I upgrade then will depend on what is available. If the 2018 has a a hex core processor and the performance is as predicted, considerable better, I may upgrade.

4-5 years at least, or until there is a OLED version shipping with dramatically increased battery-life, screen-quality and lower weight. I purchased my 2017 the day it was released so it's already 4 months "old", with a 2.9 i7, 512GB SSD and Radeon Pro 560M and it performs wonderfully.

I recently upgraded from a 2009 13' 2.53ghz MBP to a 2016 15' 2.6ghz TB-MBP. The main reason I upgraded was that I was dealing with large excel files that made my computer freeze/crash. Otherwise I would have been content to ride it til it dies.

I still use the 13' to stream baseball games to my stream though. I have no planned obsolesce in mind currently.
