My Apple Watch 4 battery health has dropped to 70% and I've started noticing how often I need to charge it. I'm curious about what the replacement procedure is and how long it takes.

I have an Apple Store near me, but I don't know if they will service it there with a 1 hour or so wait, or if I'll have to mail my watch into a repair center and wait days to get it back. I use it to track exercise and sleep on the daily, so being without it would be a noticeable inconvenience.

Thanks in advance.

To my knowledge the whole watch is replaced. Due to the size they are unable to just replace the battery.

I just replaced a Watch 4 battery last month. I dropped it off at a Honolulu Apple Store and it was returned four days later. Their promise was 7-10 days. It might be faster on the mainland.

Be prepared for it to take a couple weeks, but don’t be surprised if it’s just a few days. Be surprised (but not worried) if it takes more than a week.

Hand it over to the Apple Store. They’ll have a nightly FedEx or UPS pickup that’ll drop it off with Apple’s repair center probably the next day, the day after at the worst. The replacement will likely leave the repair center the evening of the day it arrives, this time via standard shipping. For most people, that means a couple days in transit from Apple back to you.

Add all that up and it’s not hard to see how it’s typically “just a few days,” but not surprising nor ominous when it takes longer.

Thanks! I was thinking about buying a new watch. But, I’m going to stick with my Series 4 until it gives up the ghost.
