After I said this in the "Show off..." thread,

... the next guy in the thread said to start a poll. So here it is.

I'm not sure whether it's worth our time to further complicate the poll by also asking for non-Apple Watch-owners, so I'll just leave it specifically for those who've gotten one of their own.

I never use my old watch after I got my Apple Watch... I have the first version and like it every minute... Only the battery should have a better life..

52 watches including AW2, AW3, Garmin Fenix 3 and Garmin Fenix 5X. Since getting the smart watches I don't wear my Seiko, Citizen, Luminox, G-shock and several micro brand dive, automatic watches any more. Need to start selling......

I wore a watch since I was 12 yrs old. In 2015 I got a launch series 0 and haven’t wore a conventional watch since. Just upgraded to series 3.

You were probably a combination of these three, if you count two watches as a rotation - you went from a daily beater Seiko to a Suunto + fitbit "lately", and maybe rotated those with the Seiko before the Apple Watch:

  1. I've only worn fitness watches lately (Garmin, Suunto, Polar, etc)
    14 vote(s)
    5.1%

  2. I've got a daily beater
    75 vote(s)
    27.5%

  3. I have a regular rotation
    57 vote(s)
    20.9%
That is a good explanation. Currently I only wear my Suunto when I am in the field and I honestly don't even know where my old Fitbit is.
Yeah, USAF2008, either "just fitness watches lately" or "daily beater".

I notice now that there's some overlap between "fitness watches" and "daily beater" since it's entirely normal to wear a fitness watch (like your Suunto) every day. My original intent behind that category was to have a slot for people who'd wear a fitness watch only for workouts and then leave it off the rest of the day.
I would say "daily beater" as I wore my Suunto every day with a Fitbit on the opposite wrist. It was that way up until last Christmas. I wouldn't call the Suunto Elementum Terra All Black a fitness watch exactly although it does track your altitude which is pretty convenient when you are in the mountains of Afghanistan. I decided to select "I've got a daily beater" as my Suunto Elementum Terra All Black was the only watch I had even though I wouldn't call it a beater at that time.

Two years ago, I invested in quite a few G-Shock watches and it was the one watch I could not stand. I sold all of them, they just did not sit right on my wrist.

Looking forward to getting the AW3 but I have been warned that I will not wear my other watches. As it I only wear my DateJust or GMT Master II for special occasions. My Tissot or Seiko diver are my daily beaters. With the right band I suspect the AW3 will get a lot of wrist time.

Some of my coworkers have G-Shock watches but I haven't seen one that I like. That is not saying G-Shock are bad watches because I have seen and heard how durable they are.

I wore conventional watches since I was 12 yrs old. I’m 71 now. Bought a launch series 0. My conventional watches have sat in a drawer since. I just upgraded to a series 3.

That's exactly what happened with my watch since my wife got me the series 2 last year.

What hooked on the Apple Watch is the ability to interact with the watch. I actually use it more than my iPhone.
I can't say that I use mine more than my phone but it is what I use to check my weather and fitness. It is also convenient to see my emails through Gmail so I know if it is something that needs handled right away. To me it is difficult to reply to messages so I do tend to use my phone for that.

It's true, if you find enough uses with the Apple Watch, your other mechanical watches Will not see you as much use. The reason being, is the Apple Watch can do so much with notifications, fitness, timers, weather applications, glancing at emails, etc. You will find out how much it conveniences without having to resort to your iPhone all the time.

I would consider wearing my Apple Watch as a pendant hanging around my neck if there was an easy way to do that and have it not lock itself all the time but still be secure, and if it could read my HR while laying against my chest.

That would be cool actually.

Not so much. If I had to pull the watch out of my shirt multiple times per day I might as well us my iPhone.

I want the AW for a fitness tracker, but prefer the AW to my old Misfit or Withings Pulse O2 that I would clip to my shirt. I prefer to wear mechanical watches (or statement watches instead of bracelets), and I still get the occasional comment about wearing both. I went for space black to make it less conspicuous.

When it locks it doesn't track fitness, and when PIN is disabled it's not secure.

I wasn't aware it didn't track fitness when it is locked. Since my wife is getting me a real watch for I might go back to a Fitbit or Garmin for fitness tracking.

Don’t judge me, but prior to the Apple Watch I wore an iPod Nano. :)

I still have a Nano and a PVD matching darkened steel bracelet for mine.

Well, I'm certain that I missed a bit of activity and standing up once when it was loose on my arm and locked itself. I haven't tested it again.

I don't doubt it. I have woken up in the morning and seen that my Apple Watch restarted itself during the night and locked itself.

I have four G-Shock watches that I don't wear much at all anymore. The last G-Shock I bought was a year ago in November and it was a Mudmaster.

I do miss wearing them especially with them being solar and never having to ever adjust the time. If they needed charging, I simply placed them in the west facing window in the afternoon for a few hours and that would easily last another year.

Technology moves on though.

I never have my Apple watches set to lock. I find that to be annoying.

A lot of the guys I work with wear G-Shocks and like them. I have never had one though but might take a look at them again.

I'm a avid G-Shock collector owning 27 of them. Many of them are Mudmasters, Mudmans, Kings, standard squares and a couple of ProTreks. All are atomic and solar. I just bought an AW Series 3 + cellular last week. I'm wearing this thing every day and getting very used to it. My concern is about my G-Shocks as I see them getting way less wrist time. I could easily sell them off BUT many are from Japan that are not sold here and discontinued. Many are selling at crazy prices now so if I ever wanted to buy them again, it would be prohibitively expensive so I'm not going there. I'll try to wear them but having all of them sitting in a watch box barely worn gets you thinking. I have some that only saw my wrist once in the last year but can't bear to sell. Logic says to sell off if I'm to adopt the AW. My friend returned his AW just for this reason as he had to either adopt the AW or sell off his G-Shocks. He chose to keep the G-Shocks. Only time will tell for me.
