this is from a unibody MacBook (MacBook 5,1). its removable battery is rated for 45mAh and to retain 80% capacity after 300 cycles.

as you can see after a little less than 2 years it has about 88% of capacity after 500 cycles:

WOW! my 2 week old macbook has "normal condition" do u know why?

Is 'Normal' better then 'Good'??

Mine also shows as Normal, but others in this thread have Good?

In Leopard it's called "Good" and in Snow Leopard it's called "Normal." It means the same thing.

Age of your mac: 33 moths
battery loadcycles: 527
current capacity 4600mAh
design capacity 5020 mAh
91%!

wow!

The battery on my White MacBook swells... with 269cycle and 64% health :(

I've got a White MacBook, not a MBP. After 997 cycles it's at 96% health according to iStat Pro. In recent months the health of my battery has deteriorated a bit and I have had warnings to replace my battery soon, but at the moment it's doing fine.

MBP 15" Santa Rosa 2007 (MacBookPro3,1)
Purchased new battery on january 2010
Battery Loadcycles: 190
Current capacity: 76% (4200mAh)
Design capacity: 5500mAh

Sigh, that's 0.47 load cycles per day, and by this rate the capacity will fall below 50% within 2 years of purchase.

If it's swelling, take it to the Apple store and see if they'll replace it. Swelling indicates defect.

It wouldn't hurt to take your battery to the Apple Store for a replacement, since it's below 80% capacity in fewer than 300 cycles. Even though it's out of warranty, they might make an exception for you. It's worth trying. Make sure it's properly calibrated, so the readings are accurate.

My Macbook Pro says its at 97% capacity with 8 cycles, and it is only about 2 weeks old. Is this normal? Also, coconut battery says my macbook is 23 weeks old, when I have only bought it about 2 weeks ago?

Yes, it's normal. Read the Battery FAQ I posted 10 posts before yours. Also, the age of your Mac is from time of manufacture, not the time you bought it.

MacBook 3,1

Health: 95%

Current capacity: 4756 mAh

MB is 3 years old, and I have two batteries now, but I think this one is the original.

I'm using Insomniax to help drain my battery in order to calibrate. When the battery dies, is this is the same as a hard shut down (ie. holding power button)? Is this ok for the computer to let insomniax kill the battery?

thanks.

Insomniax doesn't kill the battery. It just prevents it from going into sleep mode. When the battery drains far enough, your Mac will shut down. It won't cause any harm.

Recently my battery had been a little low on the health side... Around 80%.

Anyway, I calibrated a couple of times, and now I allegedly have a 96% healthy battery, with 402 cycles.

That's not so bad.

Pretty long thread here;

Mac model: MacBook2,1
Age: 46 months
Battery cycles: 707
Capacity: 67%

Feels pro, man

MacBook Pro 13 - 2010 model
Purchased about 11 months ago I think.
126 cycles.
I calibrate regularly etc.
Health is at 92%

Should I be concerned?

Battery status is normal, but with only 126 cycles I would still be expecting around 96% or so!?

My early 2008 black macbook has 930 cycles and has 85% battery health. My new mbp 2011 has 32 cycles with 99% battery health.

My battery got better?

2008 Aluminum MacBook

coconutBattery v2.7

Current capacity: 4118mAh

Design capacity: 4100mAh

Loadcycles: 613

Age: 26 months

How possible/likely is this? If impossible would calibrating give it more accurate results?

I do calibrate often just because of how I use my MacBook. My battery is generally always charging or discharging while the MacBook is in use. I rarely leave it plugged in when it has a full charge.

Yes, calibrating does help with extending your battery life, as well as keeping the battery icon in the menu bar accurate.
