Here's me (had my blackbook since May 2007):

75 cycles, 100% capacity.

How long is apple going to be selling brand new batteries for the blackbook? I plan on keeping this laptop for a long time, and I may need a new battery a few years from now.

They still sell G4 Powerbook/iBook batteries, so I'd say at least two years after the model goes out of production.

Well, that can't be right.

Well, that is what is says. I use it every day on Battery power. When it runs down I plug it in. I have been doing this since I got it the end of November. I can get 4 1/2 hours out of each charge.

...

I'm just saying a battery can't be more than at 100% capacity or health. There's a miscalculation in there somewhere.

This is mine...

bought MacBook 2.16 the end of August '07, though there are some discrepancies between, both pretty accurate information. Just not sure the difference between Coconut's Battery-Loadcycles and Cycle Count in my System Preferences:

If I recall from the battery recall a year ago, Apple considers 300 cycles to be typical for the life of a notebook battery. I think that was one of the criteria they were using to judge whether or not they would replace your battery of it had failed prematurely.

MacDann

Mine went from 100% to 96% after doing the calibration and it has less than 40 cycles on it :(

But, wouldn't that mean it's overcharging? Thus, something is not wrong, but odd?

It just means the battery is rated for 5200mAh.. when the battery is produced it likely charges up more than 5200 mAh.

It's like a CPU, when they are made they are made to exceed the rated clock speed, that way the CPU will run stable at the clock speed they want to sell it at (this is what makes overclocking mostly possible).

So just because the battery says it's 5200mAh just means that when it ran off the line, it's capacity met or exceeded it, so it could be sold as such.

So, odd as in unusual. ;)

"Battery Lifespan

A properly maintained Apple notebook battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 300 full charge and discharge cycles. You may choose to replace your battery when it no longer holds sufficient charge to meet your needs."

i got my battery replaced under warranty on my old Macbook Pro. After a year and 68 cycles, i had 34% health and no more than an hour of working time.

Mine's only two weeks old and it's on 98% health already (6 cycles). Come to think of it... it never showed 100% Oh well, it hardly matters, it still lasts a good time.
