My battery is at about 55% with about 45 cycles after a year and a half. I know batteries are normally considered wear and tear, but would Apple cover this under Applecare since it seems like all of you are getting much better life out of yours?

Yes. Apple states that a battery should last ~300 cycles while holding ~80% health. You are well below those marks.

Question

Just making sure, but if i have had my laptop for a while now and i decided to install coconutbattery on it NOW, will it have the current info on my battery?

I guess my question is, does it keep a running tally as you charge/recharge it, or is the battery info somewhere in the system where coconut battery retrieves it.

Thanks

The info is in System Profiler, coconut doesn't create it.

Interesting thread.

My rev A MBP is fine now, apart from the obvious heat issues and slightly pants screen, but is on its third AC cable and second battery.

The battery started to last around 30mins between charges, and one day died. By chance, I was on the apple site, and saw a battery recall warning. Checked, and sure enough mine was one of the affected. This was well over a year after I'd bought it. Got a new one from Apple a few days later, thank goodness.

andy.

Edit:

I'd be better off with a desktop, obv.

Green light

Hey All
today is the first time that i have noticed my macbook not charging till the light goes green ;(

I must be doing something right as Coconut tells me on my Macbook with 10.4.9

22 months old
Load cycles 429
Health 96%

Hope fully the lack of green light wont be an omen :(

Cheers

Gellfling

I'd say it will last a good 600 considering the rate mine's going at

I have a horrible habit of unplugging it as soon as the charge is done because I feel tethered by the cord

Disappointed in my MBP 2.4 Any Suggestions?

I recently moved from an Imac 3.06 to the new MBP 2.4. I upgraded the ram to 4gb and replaced the hard drive with a 500gb WD. Since I upgraded, I have had issues with errors on the hard drive, I constantly get the beach ball and it seems to be more sluggish. I know that I dropped in speed. But, I always thought the MBP were made for more demanding work and the one I have seems to only handle the basics.

By the way, I have tested the entire system with tech tool pro and the hardware test that Apple uses( they left in my old machine). No issues according to the test. But, it just does not seem right. Any suggestions?

I have used Mac for about 7 years and while it beats the hell out of windows, I want my MBP to do more.

My battery was at 79% after 325+ load cycles when it suddenly started expanding apart. Apple replaced it.

Cant really say...my MBP is not that old but i did have a 12" PB and it had done 502 cycles and was at 87% health and still gave 3hr of battery life

Currently my MBP Classic has the following stats

I bought my mac pro about a year and a half ago. I'd like an opinion on whether or not my battery function is normal, or if i should inquire about receiving a battery replacement from apple. Im also under their extended warranty (3 years).

Health: 57%
Cycles: 323
Fully Charged: 97%

Any advice would be great
Thanks!
