It certainly was a contributive factor. That and I was tired of Dell screwing me over. Whenever I had a question about my iPhone I was just glad that I was talking to someone that was the same country.

Apple II > Power Macintosh > some compaq box > some dell box > 3 custom rigs > macbook pro > nother' macbook pro > iPhone 2G > iPhone 3G

So in a sense I was one of the "original gangsters" before I switched to the dark side(?), mostly for reasons of cost. I switched at the cusp of vista's introduction and never looked back.

Up until about 5 years ago i absolutely LOATHED everything, and everyone who liked APPLE products. Really, I hated them all. I had never used an APPLE product. I hated people who put iTunes on their Windows pc....

then - i bought a NANO - only so I could install ROCKBOX on it - which I did.

I was so impressed with the hardware - I used its native OS on it. (but still used MediaMonkey to load music on it).

A year later I upgraded to a ipod video. started using itunes on my pc.

Then upgraded to a Touch.

Then upgraded to a iPhone 2 years ago.

Few months later bought an iMac.

Then a MAcbook Air.

Now I am typing on a Macbook Pro.

Not to mention I have bought practically every other product like Apple Tv, hi-fi, keyboard, mouse, Time Capsule etc etc....

It took a few years - but the quality of every product was so consistent and rock solid, and since I have been doing IT in Windows land for 20 years - I'll never use a WIndows pc again. I hate fixing them at work all day though ;)

I could be wrong here, but isn't bandwagon-jumping more like... if everyone was switching to Mac because the cool people are doing it? Sounds to me like this thread is more about people making the switch for themselves, based on their own personal experience with other Apple products.

Not really a bandwagon, IMHO.

Although I had used Macs back in the early 90s in business, I credit the iPod and iPhone as the reasons I have a house full of Macs today.

It started with an IPod Mini in about 2004, iTunes on the PC, the original iPhone and then an iMac.

Three months ago I switched to a macbook pro after fifteen years of pc use at home and with my business. I was led down this path as a result of my iPhone use mainly. I wonder how many new recruits Apple have got through the iPhone platform?

I moved to the Mac first, then went iPhone (fed up with Windows Mobile speed and the incongruity of the GUI - despite being more customizable. Usability should come first. Making it open for add-ins is pointless if the add-ins slow to a crawl in the process because of how poorly written the underlying OS is).

me too

I did it because of the iphone! the iphone made me start following apple trends...

What does "too many people jumping on the Mac bandwagon now" even mean? What difference is it to any individual user if there are 1 million or 100 million Mac owners? More potential viruses?

iPhone made me do it

As a former windows based tech supp rep (branded Managing Your Money & Quicken @ Meca Software in Trumbull, CT) I never imagined I'd ever consider Mac. However, because I was so impressed with iPhone I couldn't help but wonder, if Apple can do such a great job with a phone, why not a computer? Likewise, as my frustration with windows grew, so did my inquisitiveness about Mac.

I held out until Black Friday '09, when my daughter brought a friend home who happened to be toting a MacBook. After about 30 minutes with the Mac and three hour-long chats with three different AppleStore sales reps I jumped in head first. I over-spent my $1000 budget times three, but expense aside, I'm one very happy MacBook Pro owner. And I have to say, although I've made numerous calls to AppleCare tech supp, I'm still amazed at how easy it is to speak with a real, live, AMERICAN, who in most cases knows what they're talking about.

Six weeks into it I'm trying to figure how what to do about financial software. Quicken Mac 07 got horrid reviews, and yet I don't want to tarnish my beloved MBP by partitioning the HD to install windows & QuickenW. Hmmmm.....?

P.S. Black Friday "deals" were so not worth the wait.

gateway device

My wife got me an iPod Touch for Christmas 2007. I loved it immediately. That one device has since lead to a complete conversion... iPhones, iMac, PBG4, MB, MBP, Shuffle. I've also converted several friends and family members.

Talk about a halo effect... :)

hi

I got my Iphone in Nov09 and well i was always a Windows convinced user , and loved my Dell M1730 Laptop , but after installing Windows 7 on it i used to have crappy sound (micro stutters) and since i didn't find any solution to solve the problem i got very disappointed by MS.
Finally i thought it was the point to to give MAC OS a chance , and you know what?
Well i got my Macbook 3 weeks ago and now i think how stupid i've been not to switch to MAC much earlier.

I am sincerly impressed how cool things can be on a Mac.
Doing even my admin tasks on the mac to admin windows PC 's LOL

Thank You Apple for making my day on MacbookPro and of course my Iphone !

Regards

Loved '98, liked XP, hated Vista, haven't even seen 7.
Used iPods since before Touching was cool. Still have my 6GB Mini too. I call it the Old Greyback lol.

So i guess Option B became Option A. I'm actually replying to this thread on my first Mac ever, bought it yesterday and everything. :D

Welcome to the real thing , or show :)

I got my Mac to write apps for the iPhone. Personally, I never had a problem with Windows, but I administer my computer and I grew up DOS and the first versions of Windows, while also using Macs in grad school.

I'm really enjoying watching people who had nothing but negative things to say about Macs get iPhones and gush about how cool they are. :D

I don't know any recent switchers, but it's definitely changed their opinion of Apple!
