Finally I have arrived.....
As the title says, please post how many hours you are working every day. Some people are working on the irregulary schedule; so, for those people, please post your weekly work hours.

For some people, the commuting hours could be very long. If you have long commute, please also post your commuting hours. Your employers are NOT affected by it; but, you would be affected personally and financially when you consider the take home pay divided by the hours you are away from home for work.

In the country I live in, the regular work hours are 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week. Of course, there are over time hours, paid or unpaid.

M: 830-230
T: 830 -230 then 530-9
W: OFF
T: 830 -230 then 530-9
F: 830 -230 then 530-9
S: 830-230
S- OFF

Technically speaking it's 40 hours a week. Actual time spent working? Probably about 15 hours. The rest of the time is spent on forums :p and/or deciding which movie to watch until something work related actually comes up.

Monday thru Friday 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. I'm not hourly so my hours are flexible, but that is the basic schedule. My second job has sporadic hours depending on the event. I commute 29 miles each way three days a week. With Dallas traffic that can be anywhere from 35-40 minutes on a good day or 60-75 minutes on a bad one.

I work Monday-Friday 4PM - 1AM...though sometimes I'll work on Sundays instead of Fridays, depending on our deadlines.

And when you work those kind of hours...no rush hour! So, my commute is about 25 minutes door to door.

61-80 hours a week.

Your poll seems biased to the higher end of the spectrum! You start at 40hrs, when where I live the upper quartile is about 40hrs per week (That means only 25% work more than that). Here, in order to work more than 48hrs on average per week you have to opt out of the working-time directive. That means only about 10% of UK citizens work more than 48hrs. Even adding commuting time I doubt many people here would fall higher than the second band you have.

Personally I'm in my last few months as a student. Been revising recently so lots of hours, after my exams it'll fall to about zero for a week! :D

Unfortunately I will be one of those people opting out of the working-time directive when I start work next spring. Late nights, dinner in the office, getting the last train home... don't want to grow up! :(

Based on your criteria, I work about 47-50 hours a week (commuting time + hours at the office). But if you only count hours of productivity, then it drops to around 20-25 hours. That's if I take away the 7-10 hours of commuting, 10 hours lurking on MR :D and other frivolous web browsing, 6 hours for eating and er...#1's and 2's, 1 coffee breaks where I don't drink coffee :p and up to 4 hours of wasted in pointless meetings. Ugh!

Let's see. I teach part-time, so my hours can be a bit non traditional. For a typical week:
8 1/2 hours in the classroom--these are the only hours for which I'm paid.
About 2 hours prepping each lesson plan. I'm a new teacher, so I'm creating many of my materials for the first time. As time goes by, I will likely see this workload diminish a bit. I teach 5 class sessions each week, so that's 10 hours of work.
About 2 hours in student-teacher conferences.
Another 5 spent answering student emails and text messages (thank goodness for unlimited texting plans).
Averaging my essay grading load out over the entire semester, I spend about 16 hours per week grading and commenting in essays.

So, as a "part time" teacher, I work a little over 40 hours per week.

anywhere from 35-60 hours a week depending on the time of year. during the summer its usually 50-60 hours a week and during the fall and winter its closer to 35-40. very flexible hours depending on how busy our store is.

and now i'm back in school as well so if you count that as a job tack on another 16-18 credit hours worth of work on there as well.

i have no time for anything anymore.

At the moment I'm just working one day a week, maybe a few hours throughout the week.

right now?

thurs: 5-10pm
fri: 1030am-1030pm
sat: 5pm-12am
sun: 8am-5pm

when I wasn't in classes over the summer I had:

tues: 5-10pm
weds: 5-10pm
thurs: 5-10pm
fri: 1030am-1030pm
sat: 1030am-1030pm
sun: 8am-5pm

gotta love restaurant hours

For pay purposes I work about 20-25 hours per week. Although I generally consider any time I'm away from home to be 'work', so the number is far, far higher than that. Half the month, basically.

My hours are pretty variable (weekends are hyper-variable). On any given week I probably put in about 60+ hours that are approximately distributed as follows:

Weekday: 8:30am-7:30pm + 0-2hr in the evening
Weekend: 0-20hrs total

I guess that puts me in a range between 55 and 85 hrs a week. I'd guess the mean is at around 60ish with a fat tail extending toward 85.

Just calculated my approximate $/hr earnings, and now I'm depressed, lol.
