I work for myself, have a company that gives support for Asterisk and provides solutions with it, we give 24/7 support to two companies so i don't really have a schedule but i work around 40 hrs a week. and i work out of my house so no commute.

I work 3 12 hour shifts, get paid for 40 hours on salary. Days do rotate and there are a couple nights per month, but its not bad. Really quite a good deal. Also get free lunch in the hospital.

Just started so I have been working 5 days a week to get more accustomed, but next week is when I start my usual hours.

I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch too, I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work.

40 hours a week. Sunday Monday is my weekend. Rotating schedule throughout the week, 8 hour days. All breaks paid

40-60 category, although the average this year is probably somewhere between 45-50. The only way I'll ever work more than 60 on average is if I own my own business or see six-figure salaries. :D

By far one of the worst polls posted here in a long time. :p

I work 8.5 hours per day (my 45 minute lunch break isn't included in that), but I only need to work 9 days per fortnight.

I do work overtime quite frequently, but I certainly can't complain.

Between the two jobs, I am at a minimum of 40 hours, but have been right around 50 hours most weeks lately. Throw in 2 hours commuting round-trip M-F.

After working nearly full-time while going to school full-time, these 50 hour weeks are easy. If the second job had consistent days off during the week I would try and find a third job, but as it stands now it would be too difficult to coordinate schedules.

Working retail, there's no such thing as a "set schedule", although I have been fairly consistent lately. I average 36-40 hours a week - also being retail, unless there's a major event (like Black Friday), we go overtime only by accident - and then they cut your hours by the same amount the following week to make up for the overage...

Speaking of Black Friday, thankfully I don't have to work the morning shift, so by the time I get there it's just gonna be a normal day, and I don't have to put up with the crowds of people...

40-60 hours most of the time, but it can perk up to 60 to 80 or above. Last summer, I was averaging 80 to 100 hours, working nights, weekends. I hope that doesn't occur again for some time.

I try to keep my 40 work plus 10 hours commuting each week where I can work off some emails thanks to iPhone and iPad. Not counting all the hours thinking while at home but can not switch off my brain from work-related topics.

As expected, so many different hours for so many different people:)
The caveat is whether you are getting paid by hour, salary + allowable overtime pay or salary as "manager (ie. no overtime pays!)". I don't mind working long hours as long as I am getting paid for my time spend at work. But, I am not; so, I am always racing against time to get the job done in the reasnable amount of time so that I don't spend overtime hours at work (which is difficult to pull off if you are in charge of the company's operations in a certain country).

By collective bargaining agreement, 39.82h/wk (or 10min and 12 sec less than 40h/wk.) However my contract does explicitly that überstunden (over hours) are expected.

Realistically, up at 5am most days, in front of computer by 5.15a, looking for other positions and grants (more resources), at work by 9a, leave between 7 and 8p. No counting the 44min round-trip subway ride and the 6min walk on both ends (1h total round-trip), roughly 14h/day x 5 = 70 hours/wk. Some work time on Sat/Sun is not common, therefore, roughly 80h/wk.

However, I get roughly unlimited holidays (34 days/year by law) + 12 government holidays. In addition, the university shuts down for two weeks where I can't work. So, officially, 46 days/year (9 weeks/year holiday), but, it's more like 10-11 weeks/year with extra days and university shutdowns. In addition, I probably travel to conferences 3-4x/year x 1 week each. So, I'm probably traveling, at least 13 weeks/year (or roughly 25% of the year).

Interesting to think about it that way.

About 70 including university hours. And i can expect that to rise when my employer takes me on full time after my degree. Love to keep busy. Unlike most countries in europe.....

The last poll option is ridiculous.
Over 121 hours per WEEK? That would mean working 18 hours per day, 7 days a week. You'd have a whole 6 hours to sleep, shower, eat, sh't and rest - per day.
Maybe someone can keep this up temporarily for some project but not on a regular basis. No way.

The second to last option is also pretty insane. And where's the 40 hrs/week option?

In a two week period I would 84 hour but get paid for 120 on a night shift.
Next week is my last week as I transition to a 4 x 10 schedule day shift.
The money was great but I paid the price in health and missing out on life events.
