I wish my tiny rural area had some form of public transportation. I live in Michigan though, so we have practically nonexistent public transportation, aside from some city buses, which, in my area, only run from 10:00am - 4:00pm. My area being the city 15 miles south of me. Nothing reaches my home.
I'm the only one in my family with a car so I'm averaging 90 miles a day Monday - Thursday, but on Fridays - Sundays I'm driving 150 miles a day.
I'm driving my mother to physical therapy, which is 45 miles away on Fridays - Sundays. Other days she's working out at home.
I'm driving my father to work which is only 7 miles north of where I live. But then I'm going straight to class, which is 15 miles south. Then I have to leave class midday to pick up my father, drop him off, and return to class.
When I was working though, I used to go about 250 miles a day. My hospital was 45 miles north of where I live now.
Commuting takes me about an hour going between college and my father's work. It's just because it's rush hour in the city and there's no way to easily get on the freeway.
The driving takes a toll on my cars though. My corolla was in a horrible accident last October because of aggressive drivers (I was smashed into another car then hit on the other side DX). I've had to stop taking the Riviera because the transmission stopped agreeing with the constant stop and go, and the gas mileage was destroying me. Now I had a Neon which has a bad trans and a water pump ready to blow any minute. I need a reliable city car dammit! DX It's not like I even ride the cars hard. I just ease off the gas, stop slowly, and roll through most of the harshest part of the city.
