How many of you guys despise the iPad?

I dont hate it, i really dont think it has anything to do with the long wait for the MBP refresh. In fact i might buy one, but for those who do hate it:

They're made by completely different compartments within Apple. They've done multiple releases at once. New iPhone 3G S... new MacBook Pros.

They're just not ready yet.

I don't despise the the iPad. Horrid name, but I can see it's future potential. I might even get one after it's updated to include some of the more obvious misses...camera anyone...better location for the headphone jack?

Well a sizable minority seems to be unspoken for in this thread. Let's see what I can do about that.

First most here has said that while they don't despise it, they don't have a particular use for it. Is it not fair to say it's a fairly useless device then? I mean, it's really just a toy or an indulgence. A toy that will be completely unusable in 2 years when it's battery dies, and the inevitable replacement comes out. A toy that can't be realistically used as a phone, or as a computer, but only as a dumb terminal that lets its dumb user absorb content like a mindless drone. A toy that's filled with toxic chemicals that will end up in a landfill, or going up some poor Chinese kids lungs when his parents are smoldering the thing apart, trying to get what they can of the precious metals. A toy that will keep those lucky enough to afford one busy from thinking about the real problems in the world, that aren't being covered anyway because the media is too busy talking about this new toy. I'd say that's pretty freaking contemptible right there.

Then iToy... I mean Pad, is nothing more than a pretty face and a OOo! look at me. It's nothing more than a "want" item and servers no market for consumers other than those who feel like bright lights and big screens amaze them. The iPad makes Apple Computers Inc. Oh no wait Apple Inc.

I wish Apple would go back to making computers, it seems like they have lost there sense of direction with items like the iPod Touch, iPad, and iPhone so profitable. You look at it and the MBP hasn't been touched in over 300 days along with the Mac Pro's, and they think a C2D is top of the line? Please Apple make 2 divisions or leave the Computers to Apple Computers Inc.

But if you want, you can argue about the 2 years part - the other, more relevant part of Anawrahtas post has a lot of healthy perspective in it.

Not until they get OSX on an ipad would I find the thing at all impressive. They give ipod touch a bigger screen and call it innovation? Its a very short list the things the ipad can accomplish that the iphone cannot. All the hype over this thing is maniacal. I'll save my money and trade in my 3gs for a 4g/HD. Having that power in my pocket everywhere I go DOES deserve the hype.

Not me. Got it charging on my 15-inch 2.8Ghz MBP (which I bought just over two weeks ago.......and exhale......) right now. Love it, love it, love it.

Is that the MBP model that supports flash? OP I guess I wouldn't use the word despise to describe my personal feelings towards the iPad...confused and bewildered by people's adornment towards it indeed. Simply a bigger glorified iPhone with no phone and still no Flash = no iPad for me is all. The fact it's holding up new MBP may be spite worthy though.

I voted yes, but despise would be quite an overstatement.

I think it is a fantastic implementation of a stupid* concept. I can only imagine that you would buy one because you are unaware of the better options or are happy to pay more to do it the Apple way. I wouldn't in this case but I've done it before.
