I have a Bluetooth issue that I thought I'd drop in here... I have my Max connected to my car bluetooth... Whenever I play any type of content (videos, etc) the sound is always about a full second or two behind the video when connected to my car.

Anyone else experience this? I remember dealing with it with my old 6s Plus, but then I never experienced that type of audio delay with my Pixel 2. I assumed it was just some sort of bug that would've probably been fixed by now, but sure enough my Max is having the delay too.

Not a huge deal - I don't watch videos in my car that much (normally just during lunch breaks, etc), but it is still annoying.

If no one else gets this, then I wouldn't be shocked if it is my Equinox doing something wonky with the iPhone's bluetooth - but strange that the Pixel 2 was fine.

Never tried, but it could be something wrong with the vehicle. My Bentley never connected my iPhone correctly.

Bluetooth issues here with my 2012 Sonata. Doesn’t stay connected on won’t connect. Worked fine with my X on ios12.

Not sure if it’s related, but I did have to re-pair all my non-Apple devices after upgrading (B&W headphones, jam box mini, Porsche Panamera). I don’t remember having to do that when upgrading to the X last year (I always restore from backup). Once the connections were established, no issues so far.

To the people having connection issues, are you connecting your phone to your car as audio only and not as a phone connection? Are you syncing contacts and notifications? I think the issue is tied to one of these settings.

Edit: I thought the broken connectivity to cars via Bluetooth could be due to me choosing “Audio” only. But the phone even disconnects when I have it synced for phone purposes too. This is very frustrating. I’m imagining it’s something broken in the software since I had two of these phones with the same problem, from different stores/retail channels, and I didn’t have this issue with my X. I also haven’t had this problem with any BT speaker or earphones. Only my car.

I purchased XS Max connected and used AirPods. A few hours later my phone could not find the AirPods and took several attempt to re-pair. I returned the phone.

The only device my XS Max has problems connecting with is my airpods. My car, which I drive about 2 hours a day streaming music through Bluetooth stays connected with my Max no problems. My JBL Bluetooth headphones work fine with my Max. My airpods stay connected to my Surface Laptop no problem, Apple Watch, no problem.

The only problem is between my Max and Airpods. They keep disconnecting, after a few seconds. Can't even listen to a few seconds of music without them disconnecting. It's annoying.

Just came on here to share a similar issue -

Over the past day I’ve had issues with both my airpods and my Bose wireless headphones. There is a clicking sound on the receiving end of call. It’s super choppy and people keep saying they can hear a clicking sound.

Super frustrating. I turned the cell service on and off. Fixed it and then it started up again after a bit.

No issues when it comes to listening to music, videos. Etc.

Anyone else?

I don't think it's a hardware issue. I think its a bug with iOS 12.0.
That’s what’s I’m thinkinf. It’s super weird. Or maybe a bug with iOS and cellular.

No issue with the watch or playing music. It’s only during calls. Doesn’t happen on speaker phone or regular phone to ear. Only on Bluetooth

Hi guys, I am just confused that my AirPod has very unstable connection to my iPhone XS Max since I got it, but it works perfectly fine on my iPhone X. And also, it has very poor connection to my car. No song can be played completely without interruption. Do you guys also have this problem or just me? I am pretty curious.
Delete your AirPods and pair them fresh with your XS Max that should solve the problem
It did for me

Same issue here with a brand new XS Max and iOS 12.1.
  1. Paired/unpaired multiple times.
  2. Restarted multiple times.
  3. No change; AirPod connection disappears randomly and is unusable.
UPDATE: A hard reset seems to have fixed it for now.
  1. Press and release the Volume Up button, then press and release Volume Down button
  2. Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the phone restarts

The last XS Max kept dropping the Bluetooth for my AW it would connect then the next time I looked it was disconnected and I would have to pair it again. I did all the usual stuff of unpairing it, repairing it, did all the stuff that Apple said nothing helped with it so the phone went back.

I have the XR for almost a week the AW paired right away and hasn't dropped the connection once and it also paired in my car with no issues.

My issue with my XS Max is Bluetooth to my car's infotainment system to make outgoing calls. It connects fine via bluetooth, but it won't dial to some contacts I make so I can use the XS Max hands-free.

Hi all,

I have an apple watch series 4 (gps + cellular, version 5.1.1) and an iphone XS Max (64 gigabytes version 12.1).

And I have the following situation, just a couple of meters away from the iphone I see on the clock the icon of the iphone in red ( lost the connection), it is very strange, before I had a series 3 with iphone X and I did not face this problem, I moved many meters away in the office and in the house and the signal was not lost.
Otherthing, the pop up image to config ( new) my apple watch or my airpods only appears when i touch with the phone.
I contacted Apple support (chat) and did test on iphone and clock and also unpair and pair the clock with the iphone several times, I also reset the network connection on the Iphone, but the same problem continues.

Has someone else happened to you? some workaround?

Thank you!

Max

Connected to my Apple Watch, Bose Qc35's, Sony STR-DN1080, a bluetooth speaker at work, and my Tucson. Only devices that I have difficulty with are the BT speaker at work and once in a while the display in my Hyundai is wrong, it connects and plays fine just shows the wrong song info. Have to restart the phone to fix it.

I experienced the car thing for the first time the other day (XS Max.) I had never had the problem before with my other iPhones (in the same car) but suddenly in the middle of a trip the bluetooth cut out. It just went dead. I couldn't do anything to bring it back (short of rebooting and/or restarting the car) but I needed the GPS. I decided not to fiddle with it and get in an accident. Then about 10 min latter it suddenly reconnected to the car.

In hindsight I think this might have happened a few days before but i didn't pay much attention to it. I so rarely drive at all it wasn't a concern in the moment.

UPDATE 2: iPhone XS Max + Airpods have been 100% solid since then.

I have had similar issues streaming Spotify or NPR1 through a Bluetooth adapter that is version 4.0. I just got a new one with version 5.0 and seems to be fixed. May be worth a try before wiping your iPhone. I'll update if the problem recurs.
