If Apple announces a 3G iPhone, I will not be buying. I am happy with the EDGE speed I have had in my area. The only way I would even consider one would be if they announced a whole new group of features, including much better battery life to go alone with draining 3G. Even with that, I would probably hold off a little bit to see how much they drop the price this time.

so, I have gotten out of my vzw contract and am now free to jump ship. I now have make a choice....go now or wait for the 3G model. One question - will the 3G option also carry a bigger monthly cost or will the data plan remain $20 for unlimited? I hate making choices!! lol

I know that quite a few disagree....but I think the MMS not being there is a mistake and look forward to it being added. I use it a lot on my treo to send and recieve pics of family etc as others do not have emails etc to send them so they MMS them....

But I am leaning towards getting one now, if I knew that the size was going to be bigger on the 3G model, (that is something that I look for) I would most likely opt to get the current version....

My city has no 3G so it doesnt matter to me, and its not like I live in Montana either, we have professional sports teams, a Hard Rock Cafe, and, and, and, but no 3G, along with many other mid-size cities. C'mon AT&T....

I think I found a temporary way to have both...I can get a Treo 750 (I use a Treo 700wx on verizon now) for a disciunted rate through my company, and also get the current iphone...then when I need 3G speeds, pull the SIM and use the treo...then I can I have iphone that I want but if I need other functionality I will have my Treo

damn, Apple save us all from this madness and just give the 3G iphone!!!

Just because AT&T HAS 3G doesn't mean:
A) The network is stable
B) fast
C) ready
D) all the above

I travel for work, every week, all over the country. But mainly in cities - major and minor. EVERYWHERE I've been, with ONE exception (my parents house in a suburb of Buffalo), my AT&T AirCard gets perfect 3G service, and the service is excellent and fast. People who don't have 3G service with AT&T like to say how bad it is and there's no coverage, but my real-world use is exactly the opposite.

I agree with many here... I would only think about it if it was packed with more features... like Games!

My fling with the iPhone is over, so no, I wouldn't bite. I wouldn't buy my current iPhone if I had it all to do over again. I just don't use it enough to justify it, and I don't think it makes a good iPod. I wish I had gotten an iPod Classic or Nano.

Definetly, particularly as we in Aus will probaly go straight to he 3G version which I understand is coming second half of 2008. If they launched 2G version now I wouldn't get it as I don't now what network would run it and its obsolete anyway here.

if they do this i dont think it will as popular as they/ some people off here think
yep it wil for new uses but for current iphone uses nope i dont think that many will be botherd
from a personal view
no because if they throw that one to us whats going the be the update to that ?would that be coming out after the 3g in about 8/9 month time for us/3/4 month in the uk hmm doesnt seem like a smart idea seems stupid and idiotic plus whats the update going to be MMS,VIDEO,3G,GAMES o wow loads NOT price? $500-600 for USA peeps or 250 - 300 pound for the uk (were im from) it wont cheap you can forget about a low price not hapening dont forget the insinaly high contract with it i smell data not beeing cheap either or unlimited.

i cant wait to get my iphone o2 uk im excited about data beeing free wootwoopwoah!!
so 3g can go byebye because its horid from what ive seen on my mates mobs

they need to sort the problem out before people start slipping off the bandwagon.

If apple optimizes the 3g connection as they have done for edge....I would switch in a heartbeat.
