How many of you would still buy an iPad at this moment given all the rumors of iPad 2

I purchased an iPad last month, even though the rumors were flying fast and furious.

My reasoning is that I had a desire (need?) and opted for the iPad now. If the iPad 2 had a hi res screen, dual core cpu, and 512mb of ram. Then I suppose I could sell my iPad 1 for a decent amount and opt for the "2".

Now that the rumored specs have down to earth, it makes my decision all the more sound. No hi res display, a crappy 1mp camera, and who knows if we'll see a dual core cpu. Of course I do question the need of a dual core cpu in a tablet that its OS doesn't have the same level of flexibility of a desktop OS.

In the end, I'm extremely pleased that I got the iPad last month and its proving to be a great device to help get my job done, and pass time without needing to whip out my laptop. Heck, I think I may be able to get away without my laptop on my next trip given the power and flexibility of the iPad

Unless you absolutely NEED an iPad now (and I challenge anybody to prove to me they actually NEED an iPad at all anyway), you would be stupid to not wait for iPad 2, regardless of how "minor" the updates are, there will still be updates. If it just gets 512MB RAM, gets thinner, loses a bit of weight, adds a front camera, and makes use of a better quality, brighter screen, that's more than enough reason to wait.

Those who have one now and are convincing yourselves that such updates would be minor and not worth bothering about, you just can't afford to upgrade, simple as that.

I don't need to convince myself, I'm enjoying my iPad now. Isn't that the idea of purchase something to use and enjoy. Regardless if there's a need or not. I felt that spending the money last month on an iPad was a well worth investment, regardless of the impending release of the iPad 2.

So if apple releases the iPad 2 in April as per some of the rumors, I'll have used my iPad for a quarter of a year. Why do without something for so long only for a minor update.

If you think my posts are trying to convince myself that it was a good idea, so be it, but for me I'm completely content with my purchase and timing.

You and me both... We're enjoying our products now while others are waiting for who knows when then next one will be out.

I can do more on my iPad right now than those people who are still holding out.

you would be stupid to not wait for iPad 2,
If you're willing to wait until April for the 2, why not wait until September for the iPad 3 as its rumored to be released then, heck at that point, why not see what 2012 will bring and maybe the iPad 4 will be a show stopper and it will be stupid to buy an iPad 3 in September because the rumored specs of the 4 are so much better.

You can do more on your iPad than someone who doesn't have an iPad? Tautology.
True, I am dying for an iPad right now. But on going to feel like a piece of shiz if I buy one and Apple announces it tomorrow or next week.

If they come out with the new iPad tomorrow or next week, you can always return it and get the new one.

I don't feel as though I'm "holding out." I decided I wanted to buy an iPad earlier this week. Upon research, realized that it's been nearly a year since the original and that a new one may be coming. It's not like I've been waiting since the release of 1 for the release of 2. If that were the case, then I'd agree with you!
If an announcement is not made by the end of February, I'll most likely buy the original. If an announcement is made, I'll most like wait for the release of 2.

If I didn't already have an iPad then yes, I would buy one today: You can spend your life waiting for the next greatest thing to come out, but personally, I'd rather buy a device when I need it and not worry about what might be around the corner.
For those waiting, what if it isn't announced by the end of February? Do you keep waiting? What about if it gets to the end of March without an announcement, then April, May, June, July...

You could always try to find a used one for a good price on craigslist. Then if the new version seems like a worthwhile upgrade you resell the used one on CL.

You'll take a loss; but consider it the cost of having one to use and play with for the time being -- plus if you wait out the first two or three months the new version being on the market, the accessories makers will have time to catch up and you may avoid paying a premium for things like cases and screen protection.

Would it be worth $30-40/month to you to have a used first gen for four months?

I bought mine via CL three weeks ago; I had two weeks of business travel scheduled over the past three weeks, with more trips coming up. I'm VERY glad I bit the bullet and bought it. When the 2nd gen comes out I can sit back and wait; at present the main things speculated for improvement (CPU, RAM, camera) aren't a big deal for my usage. I don't really play games and have used facetime on my iphone4 exactly once, and that was with a friend who wanted to test out facetime on his Mac.

No way I'd buy an iPad today. I'd wait for iPad 2. The likely memory/processor increase is worth it alone.

Even if I did have the money no I'd at least wait for iPad2. I would like to get one but iPad3 may be out by the time I can afford one.

When buying the next Apple product, money has never been and probably never will be an issue for me. I mean, how ****** must your life be that you don't have ANY extra to spend?

I am waiting for Gen 2 -- Gen 1 iPads stock will go down in price and for a short time, I will have a Price/Performance choice.

Pretty crap man. Recession is a bitch. You are lucky.

Uhh wait? The iPad right now isn't that awesome, the iPhone 4 game out and blew it out of the water. The iPad 2 will definitely be WAY better and is obviously coming soon. Why screw yourself and get ripped off?

Brand new? I would wait. Used? Buy now, which I just did today.

I got a used 16gb Wifi model with Apple case in pristine condition for $375. Including tax that's just over a $200 savings. I couldn't pass it up. I have to believe I'll be able to sell this for close to this price when the 2 arrives...
