How many of you would still buy an iPad at this moment given all the rumors of iPad 2

If you're willing to wait until April for the 2, why not wait until September for the iPad 3 as its rumored to be released then, heck at that point, why not see what 2012 will bring and maybe the iPad 4 will be a show stopper and it will be stupid to buy an iPad 3 in September because the rumored specs of the 4 are so much better.
I'll tell you why:

  • Waiting a few short months for an updated model is common sense and a smart move if you are able to.
  • Waiting over a year for something just because that version, or the version after that will be better, is pathetic.
Coming out with statements like yours is also pathetic and over-presumptuous. You think you are being clever by what you say, but actually, all you are doing is copying what countless other people say, but without any common sense applied.

If I were in the market for an iPad right now, and Apple turned around and said that a new one will land in April, I'd hold onto my cash and purchase the better product. Nobody NEEDS an iPad at all, so I fail to see why you think somebody should buy one right now, despite an update being imminent. If they choose to wait, that's a smart move. If they buy now, fine, they can either keep it and suffer buyers remorse when iPad 2 lands, or they can sell it for a loss and consider it rented for a few months.

I find myself checking this website every ficking 10 minutes for an event announcement.

Why did you guys wait so long to get one?

i've kept my eye on the ipad since its launch, but until recently i didn't have a need for one. who really "needs" an ipad, right?..

i live in japan. i have a business trip 1 wk/month where i stay in a hotel in a very sleepy town. i need something mostly for web surfing, playing media, and studying japanese.

i was back in the US in december and i bought a macbook air, which was going to be the perfect machine for all my needs! powerful enough for what i planned to throw at it, but light enough to carry with me on the go. the night before my flight back to japan.. i cracked the lcd (like a GD bonehead). it still works great, as long as it's attached to my external monitor. i called up Apple, they quoted me $1000 to replace the lcd. online repair shops either couldn't fix it, or wanted to charge me ~$700.

this was enough reason for me to justify a new toy. waiting for the release of the ipad 2 would mean waiting at least 2-3 months. seeing as i am in japan, probably longer. i didn't see a reason to wait, the ipad already does everything i want it to.

i will be back in the US in june, at which point i'll figure out what to do with this ultra UNportable macbook air.
