2g ... 3G ... 3GS ... 4 ... 4S ... 5 ... 5C ... 5S ... 6+

So I'm only missing the 'regular 6' so far but have messed about with the wife's

Only had a problem with the 3GS with spider web markings on the White plastic back and my 6+ is getting replaced for warping (not bending - as a manufacturer defect)

My 2g was a US handset exported to Bangkok (where I was on holiday at the time) and that's where I bought it on a whim a good while before it was released back in the UK

I have interspersed this with a host of android and windows phones as well though

My daughter had the original iPhone and has used anything else since then. She had the original, 3GS, and 5.

I hate it for a couple of reasons. But before I get into that, understand that this is just my opinion and I don't hate on others who use the 4 or 4s. It's just not my preference.

First, I don't care for cases. I believe that a lot of them are either fugly or make the phone fugly, or at a minimum hide the beauty of the iPhone. But because of antennagate, a lot of 4 and 4s iPhones ended up with bumpers. Some people made some really bad choices by going with neon bumpers IMO.

Anyway, to me, that just made the 4/4s even uglier. I do not care for that stainless steel band around the phone. I think it's tacky and I really don't like it. The 4/4s is bulky and the glass on both sides tends to shatter if you look at it wrong.

So, that's the first combination of things. The last thing is entirely juvenile of me, but it's my beef. I waited for and got the iPhone 5 because of the above issues I have with the iPhone 4/4s. The iPhone 5 was solid black (except for the Slate panel on the back) and reminds me of the monolith in 2001, the movie. It's also got a bigger screen than the 4/4s.

When Apple killed the iPhone 5 instead of moving it down like it had the iPhone 4 when the 4s came out AND then introduced the 5c which I consider to be a plastic inferior to the iPhone 5 (with no option for black) AND labeled the 5c as "new" it irritated me no end. The one iPhone that I bought for myself for the very first time and Apple kills it two years later BUT still continues to make the one phone I don't care for, the 4s! I understand it was a business decision and Apple is a business and of course, the 4s sells, but I still don't care for it.

So, there you go. That's why I have a personal hate for the 4/4s.

For whatever it's worth, the 4S never had antennagate. And it was dramatically reduced in the CDMA 4. The glass was actually tougher than you'd think. I went caseless with both my 4 and 4s (the latter I kept for 3 years), dropped them more times than I can count, and always came back with intact glass

How many people have been using iPhones since day one?

I got an imported original iPhone here in the UK back in the day and have had every upgrade model since except the 4S.

Thanks, good to know. It doesn't change the fact that I still don't like these phones, but at least I can get my facts straight now.

iPhone 3G - release day
iPhone 4 - release day

The 4S did not have any antenna issues. That was strictly for the iPhone 4 only.

Had them all except the 5S/C as I had a 5 and for the first time couldn't see a reason to upgrade. As well as that, I desperately wanted a bigger iPhone and had high hopes for the 6 so wanted to keep away from the S cycle.

I got the original iPhone a month or so before I went into hospital to have my first child. I swear that phone kept me sane through four hideous days in there. It completely blew my mind and allowed me to keep in touch with the outside world in a way that no previous phone had done.

Oh god i remember that day it was the day where my hatred toward apple things was born ,now everything is ok im apple loyalist

iPhone user since day 1 (6/29/07)

2G=>3G=>3GS=>4=>4s=>5=>5s=>6

No 5c or 6+ (at least not yet)

Not as faithful with upgrading my iPad.

iPad=>iPad2=>"the new" iPad (3rd gen)=>iPad Air2

Just curious how many people here bought the original iPhone. I remember it pretty well, because it was the only Apple keynote that really blew me a way. On launch day, I lined up at the local AT&T store (the only place in the area that was supposed to have them) and waited for several hours. The staff were very cagey about telling us how many they were expecting to get, and in the end I had to go home with the 4GB model (remember those?). I later returned it (paying a restocking fee) to get the 8GB. I wrote a little review of it at the time, and it was interesting to read it again if only to be reminded of how many things the original iPhone couldn't do. The part where I tested how long things took to load over Wifi and Edge was particularly eye-opening. That thing was super pokey even on Wifi!

Your original review was a great read. Thanks!

I am on iPhone (5 and then 6 both on launch day for my carrier) from the day it launched on T-Mobile.

Bought a 2g iPhone once an unlock/jailbreak came out so I could use it on tmobile. Didn't see the benefit in the 3G since I was still on mobile and just kept using my 2g.

Switched to AT&T for 3Gs on launch day.

Bought 4 a month late (waiting for white)

Bought 4s on launch day.

Bought 5 on launch day.

Bought 5s about a month late after trying to find gold.

Bought 6 Plus on launch day.

Day 2 for me - only iPhone I lined up to get. It was my first smartphone... Followed by 3GS, 4S, 5S and now a 6. I only got the smallest storage option prior to the 6, which is a 64gb.

3G
3Gs
4G
4s
5
and now the 6.

Been an iPhone fan since the beginning. Never knew about 2g though! Going to google it to see what it looks like. :D

I loved my 3G phone. That thing was like a brick. It was heavy but well made!

I think the reason Apple discontinued the 5 was due to its numerous problems. Battery issues, sleep/wake button issues, home button issues and chipping issues. The rectified these issues in the form of a new phone the 5c. I think apple did a good thing replacing the 5 with the 5c. This topic also highlights why many people prefer the S cycle. As for me I entered the iPhone game with the 5s. I had my trusty Nokia N95 8gb and N82 when the iPhone was being dubbed the Jesus phone, then after that I had the Galaxy S2 i9100 and Nexus 5.

After over a decade with VZW, I switched to AT&T and got an original iPhone on the first Friday after the launch in 2007. I've had nothing but iPhones ever since. (I've never owned a non-Apple computer dating to the early 1990s.)

Had the first 2G after returning from Germany where I had a Motorola Razr. I was blown away with the whole touch screen. Previously I was in Iraq with no cell phones or Internet. To have something so advanced for me was amazing. I then had the 3G, 3GS, 4, and 4s. Switched to Samsung for a bit having the s3, and note 3. Now the wife and I both have the 6 plus back over here in Germany. Hope I don't have to buy the unlocked version when I return to the U.S. In 2 and a half years. $2,000 is a lot to spend on phones and would prefer to split the payments with a carrier.
