Previous work-issued 15 would hit concrete multiple times per day. Had an Otter case which makes a terrible smack! but phone survived otherwise.

And that protruding camera. Lens protectors would last maybe a week. Reverted back to the SE3, which doesn't have the camera bump plus stays in the belt clip better. Still gets dropped but far less often, maybe weekly or less.

I've dropped my 13 Pro Max many times since December 2021. Never used a screen protector, no cracks. My girl dropped her 17 Pro Max with a case and tempered glass screen protector from Apple last night and the screen protector cracked from a 2 foot drop on hardwood. I've dropped my phone many times with and without a case on hardwood, carpet and tile. I have dings on the stainless steel corners and many screen scratches, but the phone has held up very well.

Two notable drops outdoors onto concrete with my 15 Pro (no case). One scuffed the bezel a little, no big deal. The other shattered the back totally. But, this is why I have AC+ and don't really fret about minor dings ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Currently with my 16 pro max. Dropped twice from the waist height with the spigen air case on - 0 damage so far. How are you guys faring?
Happy to see that I’m not the only one who drops their iPhones.
My iPhone 14 Pro Max has a Tech21 case and has been dropped maybe 4 times, from about 76cm(30in) without any noticeable damage to my phone’s edges. I had an earlier iPhone 6 that got dropped once onto the pavement without a case and received some serious edge damage.
So, my lesson learned, ALWAYS BUY A CASE for your phone. Just sayin’.

I'm teaching myself to install wood floors and I like to keep my phone in my t-shirt pocket. I seem incapable of realizing that it's a terrible place to carry the phone. I've dropped it like 8 times in the past week, usually waist height or so onto hickory hardwood floors. Shockingly, I haven't found a case for it yet, and there's no damage, no scratches. I can't explain that. It's a 17PM.

iphone 15 pro - dropped it loads… well into double figures… once it flew out of my hands and went skittering along the footpath! Mostly it’s dropped onto the wooden floor. I have an Apple clear case and you can see some cracks in the case at the corners, so its doing its job… the phone is immaculate… every now and again I take it out of the case and give it a wipe down and marvel at just how pristine it looks… kinda incredible given it haas taken some knocks over the years…

It always bothers me that you have to buy a case for a phone and cover up such sleek and pretty objects but its worth it on the long run, whenever I upgrade my 15 pro will be box fresh and will get the best trade in price

My current 15 Pro has probably been dropped more than 50 times in the twelve months I have it. Mostly while it was in a basic rubber frame and plastic back case (Jetech).
It's still in near perfect shape.
Dropped it without the case but only on hardwood or linoleum floors, once or twice on tiles from knee hight but nothing more serious than that.
Unfortunately, the first time I dropped it, it fell on the top part of the frame, with its case on, and the frame above the ear speaker bend... I expected more from titanium. But otherwise it's fine.

Caseless and I drop my iPhone to the concrete or asphalt several times a week (I use it constantly as an important tool in the field). Usually there is no damage, sometimes a rough spot shows on the edge (easy to rub out or just ignore). Falls from 5 feet have been no issue. I dropped the iPhone 16 Pro Max 15 feet to concrete once and it did crack the back, but the phone still worked. It cost ~$250 and two hours at the Apple Store to repair. I do think that the cracked back may have impaired heat removal.

My expectation based on owning iPhones since v1 and on looking at the engineering is that the 17 Pro series are the toughest iPhones yet. The backs were the weak point in the 16 Pros and the aluminum plus ceramic of the 17 Pros seems substantially more ductile. I certainly do not expect another 15 foot drop, but this new 17 PM phone might survive such a fall with just a small dent.

Earlier this year. 16 Pro Max. Slipped out of my hand and fell about 4' only thing that happened was a cracked screen protector, FloLab FTW. Haven't dropped the 17 Pro Max. No case on either phone.

17 pro max mainly naked minus in the golf cart. Dropped it 🌴- 4 times. Few little knicks but all good.

Dropped my phone today with apple silicon case, one single drop and screen cracked! lol luckily I was still in the return window and apple exchanged it for me. And ended up getting a Samsung panel display which is a plus.

Maybe once per week. It usually falls on hardwood floors, carpet, or rugs. I haven't dropped it on concrete. The titanium holds up.
