I sold my 64gb 6 for $360 last week.

I'd have taken the Verizon $650 credit, but unfortunately I sold it the day before that deal was announced.

I am not a fan of Verizon. I have dealt with them for about 10 years as an ISP. My experience left a lot to be desired.

That promo is not $650 in cash.

Verizon just credits your account every month.

And you have to pay their monthly plan, which were not all that attractive the last time I looked.

I'm surprised how many people are updating from a 6S or 6s+. do you really need a 7? 6 and 6+ is understandable.

Richard, Verizon isn't the only carrier offering this credit. Regardless, the $650 trade-in is undeniably the best option for a 6 (not so much for 6S). After accounting for all factors, my net savings over a 24 month period would have been about $260 had I gone that route. Not a big number by any means, but it's just the principle of missing a deal that hits me!

I couldn't care less if the payment is in cash, or distributed as a bill credit over 24 months. In the end it comes out better, and the credit would cover 100% of the payments on the 7 after putting $100 down up front. BTW, I compared Verizon's 2 yr contract (which I can still get) to their Edge/Device Payment Plan. It comes out within $30 of each other over 24 months.

Sold my iPhone 5S 32 GB Unlocked for $300 (live outside North America). Using a 4S 8GB (lol!) till my inevitable iPhone 7 Plus 128 GB on 16th Sept.

Wow that's going to feel like you advanced 20 years when you get that thing in your hand! :D

Is really worth trading in my old iPhone 6 plus to AT&T for $650 bill credit?

Some things:

-I plan on staying with AT&T for the foreseeable future

-Current contract ends 9/20. Aware that I'll probably have to wait until then.

-Already pre-ordered last Friday. Too late to take advantage of this? I pre-ordered using Next.

What are your thoughts?

Wouldn't it be a better deal to trade it in with the carrier since they are basically giving you a "free" iPhone with the free iPhone trade in deal.

its a good deal if you plan on keeping it the full 24 months. If you sell it or upgrade you lose the rest of the credits. If you plan on getting an iPhone 8 in a year you will lose half of the money. 650/2=325

I gave in my 6 64gb to T-Mobile for the promotion but it says $165. I preordered the 7 plus hope it works out.

I usually sell my top of the line iphone to a coworker for $500 every year and get the new one. He is out of the country for 6 weeks. So I can probably get what it's actually worth this year. What should I list my 128gb silver 6S+ for?

I would say there are few things in life that I 'need'. I don't 'need' a new iphone 7 much like I don't need the particular house I live in or cars that I drive. But, if the money is there....why not? I like to enjoy new things.

The AT&T trade in promo is a good deal ONLY IF you're planning on keeping the iPhone 7 for the next 30 or 24 months because you will be able to get the full $650 credit! If you do an early upgrade or decide to pay it off, you won't get the full $650. In my case it's not really worth it because I will most likely want to upgrade to the iPhone 8 (or whatever it's gonna be called) if I trade it in and then upgrade to the next iPhone, I will only get about $252 of the whole $650 trade in value.

I used the support chat on ATT website. The rep told me that the $650 credit would be in the form of a gift card that could only be used with ATT products including Direct TV, etc. I specifically asked if I could use the $650 to pay the bill or pay towards the new phone. He said that I could. So is that not the case?

I would contact them again because thats the wrong information about how the promotion works. what's weird is that I just went to At&t website and the promotion info has been taken down! unless I'm just blind lol

Nvm, it is still there.

"Get iPhone 7 for $0 when you trade in an eligible iPhone*

when you buy on AT&T Next® with qual. svc. (min. $50/mo.) iPhone 7 32GB free after $650 in monthly bill credits. Tax due at sale.

*Ltd-time offer (ends 9/30/16 in PR). Priced $650. Req’s well-qual. credit and 0% APR 30-mo. $21.67/mo. agmt. Up to 3 mos. due before credits start. If svc. canceled, device balance is due. Activ., other charges & restr. apply. Void in CT, RI & Miami-Dade. See offer details"

As you can see it says "Monthly bill credits". So it is not a gift card! it'd be nice though because I could just go ahead and pay off the phone and use the $650 credit! sadly thats not how it works. Credit will be spread between the 24 or 30 month installment plan.

Thanks for the info. Next years iPhone is what will keep me from doing this deal. The "rumored" 10th anniversary iPhone.

Scratched up and beat condition (screen still intact and fully functional) iPhone 6+ will yield me a $650 iPhone 7 at no out of pocket expense so I guess $650 :D
It was a deal I couldn't pass up. Traded a 64gb 6; 16gb 6s and a 64gb 6s Plus for $650 trade in purchase of three iPhone 7s, 2 32gb and one 128gb.

I owed $517 to pay off my Next plan on my iPhone 6s Plus. I was offered $540 and the buyer is willing to wait until October 4-10 when my 7+ is scheduled to ship. Thank God.
