I use it as an iPod (gasp :p), mostly podcasts and audiobooks on the move it has to be said, although there's some music. I also use it very often as an onpeompru notepd. Very rarely for the web, email, etc as I'll have an ultraportable or a UMPC.

I use my touch every day. I would estimate about 6 hours
total during each day. I use it the most for email, surfing, podcasts
google reader, notes and audiobooks. I'm never without it.

I use mine about 4 hours a day on weekdays. Listen to podcasts 3 out of the 4 hours i'd say. Sometimes i use it for MSN and the usual of course(email, internet, maps ect).

i WANT to use mine all the time.

but i can't.

Why?

THERE IS HARDLY ANY WI FI SPOTS IN NYC!!!

I MEAN SERIOUSLY, WTH??!?!??!

this is NYC. the FINANCIAL center of the world. and cell phones dont work in subways, there is NO wifi anywhere except for star-makeyoupay-bucks.

Its a constant reminder of HOW SEVERELY FAR BACK the US is from the rest of the world, esp Asia. It's like medieval times here in the US compared to Korea or Japan. Maybe closer to caveman times.

as much as i love my touch, i should have gotten an iPhone.

No WIFI? Seriously, not even in a mall?

I use my iPod Touch as much as I can... I have this alarm clock-like speaker dock that wakes me up every morning!

i hardly use mine apart from my bike ride to and from school. usually justs sits on my desk

in retrospect i wouldnt have gotten it

and now that i built my pc, i dont really use my macbook anymore either.....owell such is life

I use mine every day when Im going to Uni/ from uni (takes about 10 minutes :p ) And when I'm going somewhere else, but not always. This is for music of course. Sometimes watch a movie on it.

In my city (about 600000 population) there is hardly a free wifi hotspot - I know only about 1 but never been at that cafe, so using internet feature is very limited (basically I only use the Safari at home when I'm too lazy to access my computers or need to check weather really fast without turing comps on in the morning).

Thats it.

Wow. I live in Ohio and theres wifi everywhere. Almost all burget kings and mcdonalds have them. :)

City-wide wifi would be amazing though!

My mama always says that life is like a box of chocolates. If you're not too stupid or lazy to read the map on the inside of the box lid, you always know exactly what you're going to get.

 Why couldn't you just have corrected him and given him the info - was it really necessary to be such an obnoxious smart ar$e?

i use mine like 5 to 6 hours a day at work..we have free wifi at work so yeah plus my manager dont care if im on it just as long i look like im working when were not really busy..its hard for me not to have it at work or time will be so slow..:D

How much overall a day do you use your iPod touch? I haven't been using mine a lot lately. I need to start using it for music more, as I don't go many places so I use iTunes. How about you?

I use mine everywhere, and I mean everywhere at any time for some random reason. Sometimes I like to just listen to music while waiting for a drink at starbucks, sometimes while I'm walking to class, sometimes while I am waiting for lunch, sometimes when I am reading a book, sometimes when I am shaving...I listen to music ALL the time.

And besides that, whenever I need a quick snippet of info, I just pull my iPod out and check. I am frequently on wikipedia or something. Or checking the bus schedules, as this person said:
I use mine ALL the time. I'll often pull it out to quick check something on the internet.

Do you guys use your touches a lot when your at home?

In my dorm I share my internet with my macbook (connected to the ethernet) and I use that to just randomly sometimes sit on my bed and then when I am reading and I need to look up a word in a dictionary, I have it right there.

I use mine all the time! I carry it on me at work and use it when I am not in the break room. I also pull it out when I am at school and do not have my MB with me or when I am not using it. I love my iPod Touch!!!!:D

Mine is on all the time. I have a hook up in the car, then straight from the car to my pocket, ear buds in until I leave work for the day, then back in the car for the drive home. I listen to it until the Battery needs to be charged.

I thought there are about a hundred Starbucks in NYC. Don't each of them have a WiFi? It might not be free but it's available.

Try iphone.jiwire.com to find others

EDIT: Oops, didn't fully read your post. You did mention Starbucks. Anyway jiwire should locate a few more. They do show 1119 locations near the center of the city!

I use mine for about an hour per day. Listening to music & browsing the web. I dunno why I upgraded from 16GB to 32GB as I only have 4GB on it currently. :/

Quite possibly the best MP3/Video player to date...

My iPod Touch is actually my first PDA. I take some light notes on it, sync it with my calender, media player (obviously), and contact manager. Once the SDK comes out for it I look forward to developing for it. I hope at least the beta version of the SDK is out on Thursday... Any requests for apps they'd like to see developed with the SDK, assuming the SDK is not limited in any way?

I use mine extensively, every day. In fact, I usually drain the battery completely by the end of each day.

I use the calendar daily, mail.app all day long, mobilemusicplayer.app about three-four hours per day, videos once or twice a week, and games for about an hour every day. Safari I use in the john, there is no wifi in Tokyo so I can't use it when I'm not at home, unfortunately.

I use mine everyday and am loving it...though I end up charging it after everyday which is starting to concern me...How long will the battery last based on the fact that I use it everyday and charge it everyday? Is there a certain amount of battery cycles?

I use mine all the time. I use it for email, weather, stocks, contacts, calendar, Internet, video, music, and anything else it can do. In Wichita, we have quite a few free wifi hotspots, which is really convenient. I recently went to a city I had never visited before, and I used nothing but the Maps program on the Touch to get around the city. Always had wifi, and it always worked perfectly. The Maps program has replaced my other means of looking up locations at home. It's so much easier to find things using Maps. Lots of times my wife is on our iBook and I'm on the Touch. That works out really nice.

I used to use it in my car but I recently resurrected my 60GB color so that is my carpod now (whole library) and a Moleskine has taken over the PDA abilities. As for Safari, I got hosed since it doesn't support 802.1x and I was not aware of that at the time I bought it, shame on me.

Constantly, every day it needs charging. Music while driving, web all over, all sorts of apps, reading e-books, etc.

I'm typing this sitting at my kids' bus stop waiting for a bus that's already 15 minutes late.

I use it almost exclusively as a PDA, and I use it multiple times daily. By the end of each day, I'm typically down to about half-charge in the battery.

I've Jailbroken it, so games, offline content, and other goodies are always available. But my absolutely most favorite application is Wiki2Touch, an offline Wikipedia reader. It requires over 3GB of storage space, but it contains the complete text version of every Wikipedia article from January, 2008. Being able to have access to any Wikipedia article whenever I want, wherever I am, is simply amazing to me.

really...i spent a week in NYC and had TONS of wifi spots. I had no problem getting on most everywhere with my sisters ipod touch....

Use my iPod Touch alot. For listening, notes, email at concerts, checking the web. I LOVE it!

NYC does have a lot of WiFi - it depends what is locked and what is not...
