How much RAM are you going with on the new 2012 27-inch iMac?

you should add a 24GB option. I will order 8GB and add 3rd Party 16Gb when it gets here...

Agree, 8GB on TOL 3.4 GHz then 16GB Ram from Crucial ( can't get OWC here in Thailand!). Extra $110 including shipping of $30 ( will have to pay duty too!!)

Waiting

I'm hobbling along with 4GB for now (not enough for work), so the stock 8GB will serve well enough until I have a new batch of 32GB in my machine from elsewhere.

is it possible to upgrade to 64GB?

I know that the actual max ram is usually higher than what Apple announces. In this case, that would mean that 64GB is the max ram, not 32GB.

Is that possible in this iMac?

Thanks!

8GB when I get order in 2013. 2012 has been very expensive.

I'm itching to get 16GB even though I know I don't need it. LOL

What brand is the OEM ram in the new 27" , Samsung?
Is it possible to buy OEM ram outside the applestore ?

the ram will vary.

micron= crucial, samsung, elpida and hynix are more common then mushkin.

I have seen macs use all of the above. Why? since they use intel the cpu allows most ram to work. Apple buys lots of ram by price first .

They do use the 5 I mention most. So if you want the same as your iMac wait till it gets delivered. I have had 4x 2012 mac minis come to my home. They had micron they had elpida 2 of each.

Thx for your reply, I'm a totally newbie on the Mac field, so you helped me a lot there. Think I'll just wait and see what ram is inside it. But did you have to open up the mini to decide what brand the RAM are?- guess so . I'm curious because I've ordered a mini as well, top spec BTO.

I´m glad to see so many buys 32gb and... why have less when you can have more :)

Even if I would never use all of the 32 gb, my next iMac will have 64 or 128gb ;)

First I was looking at corsair, since they have mac specific ram (dunno what that means though) but some how the specs said spd speed 1333mhz, even if tested speed was 1600mhz. I don't know then if the imac will treat it as 1333mhz or not, and it was twice the price of crucial. I tried to find crucial, but I couldn't find the official crucial apple-recommended ram from any norwegian store, though I found the identical specs on another crucial ram. But since crucial didnt recommend this ram for mac I didn't buy that either. Probably would have worked though - but I want to be sure.
So, in the end I went for Kingston Apple ram, since I found this in norwegian stores and it was actually recommended from Kingston....and it was dirt cheap.
