1gb to save money? How much do they save? $3?
If you work at Apple and you figure out a way to save them 50 cents per iPad, you are in for a huge bonus.

It was reported fake. For 2 reasons-
1. It doesn't show an image of who they are speaking to: which it does if you do if for real.
2. Lots of people asked them selfs and the same answer every time was "no one knows, it is unconfirmed by apple". Ask yourself, it's free.
1 isn't true- I launched one and had that image.
Here's how I see it.... Apple gave all sorts of specs last week, but failed to mention the RAM for iPads. They mentioned the measley 4GB of ram on the base MBP, but nothing for the iPad would indicate that it won't be impressive. That doesn't mean the tablet won't be good, but does make you wonder what's up.
I asked several times. Ask again then.
Just did. Same result.
Are you in the US?
go to store.apple.com, click view pricing and configs for the iPad mini, click chat now in the column on the right.
Here's a screenshot of my convo, and I added a bk to the last message just so you see it is me.
EDIT- All I'm saying is I don't think that's a reason to prove that one conversation wrong. I do, however, not believe that a) the sales guy actually knows or b) could still be photoshopped, just that detail isn't wrong.

I am in the UK and I have asked 3 times; same answer as you every time.
Wait then what part are you saying was wrong? I thought you were saying you got a picture up top?
Well, that settles that. A measly 1GB RAM...where's my checkbook, let's get this over with.

How do we know that an "iPad4,1" is an iPad Air? Could this be a test of the existing 4th generation ipad and not the ipad air?
In fact, looks like 4th gen to me:

Given they're now integrating RAM into the processor, it's not as easy as it was before. They'd need to fab a separate CPU. Doubt it'll be cost effective.Given how much they over charge for extra storage I wonder how long it will take before they start charging for more RAM?
